Sheesh! My doctor told me I had a stroke!
A really tiny one, I never noticed it.
And he doesn't even know when it happened, could have been 3 or 4 years ago.

But I had a CT scan of my head and they found the healed-up tiny stroke.

But... :scared:

1. My dear Archae...

Well, now, that can certainly be disturbing...

It's scary to think that this could have been catastrophic. But it wasn't.

I suspect you'll want to do whatever you need to keep from having the next one...

Take care, sweetie...

3. I've been stroking out (or strokin' in the Free World)...
.
.
.
.
.
...since the onset of pubescence.
.
.
.
Reminds me of my girlfriend's pre-school boy who, when engaged in that activity in the bathtub
and told to stop it before he hurt himself (my GF said she was so ashamed of herself when she
heard those words coming out of her mouth), simply smiled and said, "Uh-UH, Mama... I do it
alla time and it doesn't hurt a BIT!!!"
.
.
.
.
Oh. Now I get it.
.
.
Watch your sodium. Sweets probably don't have as direct an effect on stroke predisposition
as salts (unless they're responsible for much excess weight) but salt is a MAJOR factor... and
it's MUCH harder to restrict in your diet.
.
.
.
Stay on the meds. Stay near... stay VERY near bathrooms (I call mine my YOU-GO-NOW pill.
.
.
.
.
.
Don't smoke crack on a DAILY basis.
.
.
.
.
.
Get an affectionate kitty.

6. There is such a thing as ministrokes. One of my grandmothers had them.
They didn't do much noticeable damage.

8. Same thing happened to me with a heart attack
It's very scary to hear that you've had something dreadful and downright creepy to know that you didn't notice it.

Here's hugs

:grouphug:

I never noticed my actual attack, but it earned me extensive testing that included a large dose of radioactivity, and I now have a scarred heart and an arrhythmia.

I started a thread yesterday about those times you're convinced you have a horrible disease and it turns out to be nothing. Maybe we need another thread on that time you had something horrible happen to you and you didn't notice.

10. Whoa. That's scary. Did your dr. tell you to take a baby aspirin daily...

and walk regularly, and all that other stuff?

My sister had an early stroke (in her early 50's) brought on by lifestyle. She did EVERYTHING wrong...she was a high risk for a stroke (and other things). And sure enough, ALL those things happened. But the stroke was the worst. She will be in a nursing home the rest of her life. And to think, had she taken even a little care of her health, it didn't have to happen.

11. Been there. My brain scan last year di show that I HAVE a brain, but also
at least one of those "micro-strokes" like yours, along with a fascinating collection of lesions from MS and Lyme disease.

We need a new word in the English language that means "OK, that's good to know but the evidence makes me a little bit queasy when I see it," yes?
