Now, what the hell? Are the cups made with some kind of valve on the bottom? I understand the concept of hydraulic head (I know, I said Head. We Geologists make the BedRock and us Hydrogeologists get to probe holes for head:evilgrin:) so I know why it stops filling, but still that is really cool.

4. Here's the explanation...

Each cup has a big hole at the bottom that’s sealed with a flat circular magnet. The machine pops the magnet up and fills the cup with beer from underneath, and when it retracts, the magnet in the cup seals the hole. For you, the impatient and thirsty customer, this means a better beer-to-foam ratio delivered faster with less mess, plus hey, free magnet!

This system is obviously going to increase the price of the cups, but the idea is that companies will buy ads on the magnets to help offset that. And as you can see, this machine is damn fast on the pour, and faster pouring means more beer sold.

I hadn't thought of magnets, I kept thinking it was some kind of rubber gasket setup.


Unfortunately for me I can't have any alcohol because it will increase the magnitude of my migraines (even the smell of some will do it). I usually look like this :hangover: except it is a daily occurrence and not from a previous evening imbibing the great mead of my ancestors. If I didn't have the headaches then I would have probably encountered this thing first hand already.
