I know - "That would kill the sales of the devices".

I think otherwise. If I could use existing hardware to emulate a Kindle and see if it is something I would actually want in a format that's lighter than my 17" laptop , easier to read than my 10.2" mini, and portable (unlike my desktop with the 27" widescreen monitor), then I might be inclined to buy one. If I find that I'm not using it on any of my existing machines, I'd know not to waste my money. Right now, it is in the "cute toy" department.

2. Whao! Thanks! I'd looked for that a while back.
Maybe I was SWI (surfing while intoxicated), but I didn't find it. They went a step further and went after the competing devices. Good move. It looks like maybe they're going more with the "buy the book" model than the "buy the device" model.

Anyway, thanks again for the link. I'll try it.

3. Amazon certainly doesn't make it that easy to find.

Of course, I may have been SWI as well when my wife had to first point me to it.

I have it and several other readers on my phone (Droid 2), and it's not as bad as you would think on a relatively small screen.

5. it's pretty easy to find...
go to the main kindle page, near the top of the left column it lists seven platforms you can download the Kindle reader for, with a link to more platforms...

6. Exactly. And you'll have lots of fun slowly figuring out all the buttons.
I like it more and more as time goes on.
