1. Are you KIDDING?!?!? As a kid growing up in Connecticut and Michigan...
.
.
.
.
.
...I LOVED playing out in the snow.
.
.
.
As a pre-schooler in Connecticut, my older brother MiddleFingerMomTom and I would
heap a huge half-globe of snow to a height of about 5 feet, spray it thoroughly
with water, and go out the next day and hollow it out as an igloo -- complete with
entrances and "shelves" cut into the walls. We'd take out a couple little chairs
and a blanket and sit out there and freeze our faces off -- mighty Inuit hunters
(though it was "Eskimo" back then) kicked back in our little boy mancaves.
.
MiddleFingerMomMom would leave out goodies for us to "trap" to stock up on provisions
for our "refrigerator" shelf (candy bars and Hostess Snowballs and such).
.
.
.
Then grade-school age in Michigan, the ONLIEST reason I joined the Cub Scouts
and the Boy Scouts was for the monthly campouts and annual canoe trip in the
warmer months... and the miles-long hikes through the snowy woods in the winter.
There is NOTHING more satisfying than a burnt weenie just-cooked over a fire
you've just built out in the open.
.
The hot dogs weren't bad, either.

fifteen minutes outside in play. they half hour undressing and getting redressed in dry clothes. lol. i remember the days.

now, they do it themselves, so it is all good.

4. Have some hot chocolate ready when they come in
As a young man in Iowa (good lord, I am still here) ruralmom would have to drag us in. Sunset only slowed things down a bit.

5. Snowball fights!!
Remember those??

I loved reading the "Calvin and Hobbes" books for some of the things those two came up with to do in snow.

25. You better hope it doesn't last too long. 3 or 4 days could be
serious, you know.
Maybe they should go out after the blizzard. Then they can play in the snow.
