final truck problem of the year?
kid goes out and starts the truck for a NYE beer run (I have been hoarding MY wine for months!) and it is squealing away - I yell at him to turn it off but it is smoking by now. water pump must have froze (it was 19 here last night and hasn't got above 34 yet today - house pipes froze too) belt broke. damn it! just had to be one more breakdown this month!

parts store closes early at 3 one of his friends is coming out to get him and they are going to try to make it back to town for a new belt. Hope they make it and it will fit (supposed to be in stock - last one, no less). Oterwise no fix until Monday - no big deal for me but kid will need to do the same errands plus get to work and back on same day. Santa didn't bring us a shiny new vehicle, or even a running POS old one for that matter.:eyes:

would be nice if this is the end of a bad month and NOT the start of a crappy new year!

1. My dear Kali...
Oh, good grief!

I'm so sorry to hear all this. I bet you're really REALLY tired of all this shit too. I know I would be.

2. thanks Peggy
not a huge deal, just the pile up kind of getting tiresome

and I am always cognizant of much worse suffering out there, my biggest worry when the weather turns bad like this is migrants walking around out there - saw several border patrol vehicles acting strange the other day and wonder if they caught whoever or what happened. If they got away and lost their belongings...well I just hate thinking about it, hopefully everybody is fed and warm, everywhere.

3. Warm it up
Or it'll happen again. Buy pure antifreeze and not the 50/50 stuff.

That sucks. I hope you get it fixed and can get on to celebrating. Oh, are you gonna share in the event noone can get to town? ;)

of course I would share, I am a sucker for...er I'm a Mom.

ssshhhh don't tell anybody but I have two bottles of tequila stashed around here someplace too!

oh and here is the stupid confession on the truck - it blows off the coolant every now and then (probably just a stupid radiator cap) so it only had water in it - not a big problem most of the time - it rarely freezes here, but since we hadn't solved the leak problem yet, I am too cheap to waste coolant. sigh

10. I've heard that
but you are talking to somebody that more likely has an old belt off a junker than a pair of panty hose! new or old:rofl:

11. lol, I know...
I lost a belt on my old 1600 VW bus and used a surfboard leash, panty hose and a clothesline to get to the only parts store for 100 miles. The panty hose lasted 30 miles or more.

sitting sideways on top of the post, opening (top) is to the left. if you look towards the right side you may be able to see the water line - it's frozen solid

hey it's the desert, we don't get water very often, much less ice

at least I didn't post the picture of the frozen puddle I also took this morning:rofl:

having a little tea to wake up before I get going on the liquids that will bring passing out heh heh

You have a good evening too, Suich!

18. Car troubles build character in a person.
And, boy do I have character out the wazoo, so I can sympathize.

On the bright side, at least it happened in your driveway and not out in the middle of nowhere.
