So far, the cast only includes Johnny Depp as the Lone Ranger's Native American partner, Tonto. No actors have been mentioned in connection with the lead role, though Depp recently said that either Brad Pitt or George Clooney would be "great" for the part.

Depp is in Rango, will basically play Hunter S. Thompson (again) the "The Rum Diary", and has a documentary on Keith Richards coming - based on 35 hours of them sitting drinking and talking..... oh and another Pirates movie you may hear something about that in the summer.

1. CLOONEY? Good fucking grief. I can't bear to think of the Lone Ranger bobbing his head around.
Seriously. Clooney can't say a line without bobbing his head around like one of those dogs people used to put on the shelf in the rear window of the car. He absolutely sucked as Batman and I just couldn't handle him desecrating the role of The Lone Ranger.

Pitt on the other hand might not be serious enough for the part.

Depp can play any role.

2. I thought Clooney mostly does the "I'm George Clooney and I am on your screen" thing
sort of like Cary Grant.

Still I like Clooney. I think he makes good movies.

11. Hunh. I never noticed, except when he's doing farce.
But then it's part of the act. I'll have to watch for that next time. If you get me to where I can't watch him without being annoyed, though, I'm getting Skittles to... Well, you know what Skittles does. Yes indeed.

7. Johnnt Depp.... come on the TV show took a bold step
casting Jay Silverheels an actual native American, well Canadian, as the Lone Rangers sidekick. Nice step backwards.

9. They never learn their lesson do they.
The last attempt starring something called a Klinton Spilsbury was so rotten they reedited it so nobody ever said a line and used a Merle Haggard song's narration to tell the story.

Truly terrible film. Leave the ranger alone and buried.

13. Yeah, he claims to, but he wasn't raised in that heritage.
He has some Cherokee blood, supposedly (though most people I know claim they have some Native blood in them--it's the cool thing to do). Still, he wasn't raised Cherokee and isn't identified as part of that culture.
