They look simple enough, I guess.

1. Not real hard...
...any cheap steak will do. Slightly freeze the steak and then slice as thinly as possible. Dice a bell pepper and an onion. If you have a broiler or toaster oven pre-heat it. Your choice of cheese is wide open. Heat maybe 1 1/2 tablespoons of oil in a skillet (with a cover if no broiler is available) to medium and add onion and pepper and saute about three minutes. Meanwhile if you have a broiler you can split and butter your rolls and sprinkle with garlic powder and toast them as a nice extra touch.Add your beef and stir fry with the vegetables until just no longer pink. At this point you can either pile the filling in the rolls and top with cheese and broil till melted OR shape the filling in the pan to about the size of your rolls and top with cheese and cover till melted and then fill your rolls....

3. Step 1: Go to Philadelphia and buy some
Step 2: Drive fast so you make it back in time for kickoff.

5. Maine to Philly and back before kick-off? Yeah, I don't think they make a car that goes that fast.

14. It's 800 miles round trip and the game starts in four hours
I think a McLaren would do it if you don't have to stop too often for gas.

6. You have to use Amoroso's rolls or they aren't real cheese steaks

8. They aren't that hard to make. I found this recipe
http://www.cdkitchen.com/recipes/recs/345/A_Real_Philly_Cheese_Steak37718.shtml

and it gives options beyond the Amorosos rolls, but whatever you do, don't go with Cheese Whiz---it has to be provolone.

9. I'll stick with the whiz.
Not that I eat them anymore...I know of one place that does a vegetarian "cheesesteak" w/ seitan and noosh-cheeze (it's actually vegan, but I'm not) and it's 2 hours away in Manayunk. I order it without the cheeze and add my own gloopy nacho cheee sauce (usually Utz nacho dip, not Cheeze Whiz b/c it's made with anchovies.)

10. If you'd said something a few days ago...
I'd have told you that if you ask really really nicely the guy in the meat department might even slice the steak for you on the meat-slicer...but today is a busy day and there is no way they'd do it. It means having to clean the machine afterward to not violate health code.

If you can get them to slice it though, a heads-up: a 1/2lb of deli-thin raw steak cooks in about 20 seconds to well-done and should be stirred constantly during cooking to make sure it cooks evenly throughout.

12. Look him in the eye and say,
"Make 'em yourself. I'm watching the game." Then smile sweetly.

15. Why would that be your problem?
Hand him a can of non-condensed soup with the pop top and a spoon. If you want to be extra nice, give him a napkin too.

:D

19. Okay.
I was visualizing a guy sitting in an easy chair, drinking some beers while watching the pre-game shows and expecting Philly Cheese Steaks for Dinner!

Was stationed at the Philadelphia Naval Base for some years and have fond memories of those cheese steaks.

20. Actually, in the end he wound up making them because he wanted them done a certain way, which was
fine with me. :) They turned out pretty tasty if not quite traditional. (He added steak sauce to the pan.)

18. Mmmm... rib eye, cut across the grain thin as possible,
italian sub rolls or the thin long loaf from the supermarket.

Sear the steak whole then slice it thin and brown the thin slices over low heat, cover them with velveta or mild cheddar. Douse the roll with his favorite hot sauce (or let him do that part) and nuke it for about 12 secs on high. Stick the sliced steak and cheese in the roll and do a touchdown dance in the end zone.

That's the quick version.
