Great news!
For all of you who took the time to read and reply to this long post:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x9619312

The is great news this morning!

At 2:30 this morning, Babe started whining to get out. By the time my husband got up to come downstairs to do so, she had went on the paper. However, he let her out with out younger dog. He waited a few minutes for them to have time to do what they needed, and then called to them, fully expecting to have to go out and retrieve Babe.

Surprise! Surprise! She came back into the house on her own power and curled up on the couch with Tippy! Previously, she had been sulking off to sleep on the bathroom rug by herself.

She did it! She did it! For the first time she came into the house on her own! She is now okay with it it seems! What a relief!

Thank you all for listening and caring!

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

10. It kinda depends on how you mailed it.
If it's mailed First Class, it should be here within a week. But I've received stuff mailed First Class or Priority Mail by my mom in even less time than that. (Mom has a tendency to over-pack stuff, so I got lots of BIG boxes from her with small stuff inside. )

11. Good to know.
She's probably afraid, as I am a little, that a tiny package would get lost.

9. WONDERFUL!!!
.
.
.
It's sad and often frustrating dealing with an animal (let alone human) victim
of abuse.
.
.
But the payoff?
.
.
You know the payoff now -- it's an amazing feeling. One of accomplishment for
yourselves and one of joy for your pet's progress towards a happy life again.
.
.
GOOD FOR YOU!!! Give YOURSELVES extra treats and snuggles, too.

13. I am now at work.
I waited to come in until it was 21 degrees and sunny out before I put them outside for the day. They can shelter in this and be just fine. But guess who didn't want to get up off the couch and go out? :eyes:

21. Awww...try using treats...
when she comes in she gets a treat. Even if she stays out on nice days it'll help if you have to bring her in on bad days. She might even decide it's better to hang with you guys in side. You don't have to give her much, dogs don't care how big it is. Use a cheerios.

She's doing ok. She was very whiny last night, I had to sit and rub her tummy so she'd go to sleep. I felt so bad for her. She's a little better today. Truth is I'm more worried about the cornea laceration, and that seems to be bothering her the most, oh and the e-collar she has to wear. She hates that. LOL! I'm gonna post a pic of her with her collar, she looks so sad. :-(

20. FURTHER UPDATE:
Today it got up to 48 degrees with no winds, a very nice day. When I got home she would not come into the house with me. When my husband got home she totally avoided him, staying just out of his reach. I went out to take them some food and she would not come near me until I put the bowl down and stepped away.

Easy come, easy go. We're hoping she feels differently as the temps drop this evening.

28. Could Tippy be the key?
Maybe that's the encouragement she needs? Moral support from her canine buddy?

30. That's a good thought but
she really dislikes having Tippy around all the time because she is just under a year old and we got her when she was just weaned. She's been a little too much excitement for Babe this past year, jumping all over her and the like, so Babe really does cherish time by herself when Tippy is away somewhere else. LOL

Although she does worry about her when we've taken her away in the car to the vet by herself. She has to check Tippy out all over and make sure she's okay when we return.

:hi:

29. Thank you!
My husband told me this morning that Babe didn't whine to get out all night, slept like a well...a babe through the night. When he got up this morning, he wanted to give them some canned food (extra fat) before he let them out again and Babe decided she had to go potty. She went directly to the paper and he gently told her no and opened the door. Out she went with no mishap. She really is housebroken, but I wish it hadn't been at such a cost to her.

Hope you are doing well today. :hi:
