Stuck working a triple shift on Valentine's day.
I'm salaried. So no OT.

But all said and done, I wish more companies were like the family business that I work for. Tonight, I'm taking care of the company. But for the 17 years that I have worked here, they have taken care of me. Why can't there be more like them? We are a decent sized company(2500+ employees). We have fantastic benefits, great pay, etc... What other company would have a CEO who refuses bonus in down times while still paying profit bonus to everyone else who earned it?

How is it so hard to understand that when your employees love coming to work, and are happy working for you, that the business is profitable and can grow? What is so hard to understand?

1. but - holey cow - a triple shift?
Does that mean 24 hours straight?
If so I hope you are not in a place where someone may getr hurt because you are tired etc.
Take care.
Oh and happy V day

3. The only thing I could hurt is my laptop and maybe the coffee maker. No. Especially the coffee maker
Yes... 24 hours...

But keep in mind, a lot of ER doctors used to pull 72 hour shifts where they could in all reality be on their feet the entire time. Since '03 I believe they are limited to 30 hour shifts. So that goopy thing I call my liver if damaged in a car accident could be worked on by someone who has been on a 28 hour straight day...

We do it from time to time to limit the impact to our operations employees and more importantly our customers. Happy operations = happy customers = Happy IT guy(me)... Sleepy IT guy = nothing more than sleepy IT guy. Make sense?

2. 11 years ago I worked
129 hours a week for 2 weeks. The computer couldn't handle the numbers so I got checks late. The union filed a grievance and got me an extra 8 hrs pay each week for the late check.
Those a couple of crazy weeks.

4. Back when I was hourly, the most I would do in a week was 89 hours...

It was mandetory that we could not work more than that. But I'll tell you, 49 hours of double ot + differential on a Sunday was nice... It took me about 5 years in a saleried position to make what I was making when I was hourly. But, I never had to put in anywhere near those hours again and no more scheduled weekends... Only when I'm on call(which I get paid for even if I'm never called) now.

I cannot imagine 129 hour week... How did that break out by the day?
