Poll question: Mrs. V. got me a Kindle for my birthday!
It arrived on Saturday and I spent the weekend reading. It is awesome.

Do you own an e-reader? Which one? How long have you had it?

7. That is cool.
To have that much literature available right there! But, of course, I will resist 'til the bitter end.

Now a flying car, I would get on board with right away!

10. I do too.
But this technology is SO cool. And I've lusted after this thing for SO long. As my sister the librarian said, at least it won't burn at 451F. :)

14. A Nook is perfect for aging eyes
never have to worry about poor lighting or small fonts.

17. You can customize the font, and there are lights you can buy for the kindle....
...and you can easily read outside. I looked into the nook, and it looks cool, but I really like my kindle better. It was a lot less expensive.

18. THe backlighting is straining on the eyes after awhile. I think the Kindle is better.
I'll sometimes read on my Ipad for short bursts, but I can't tolerate it for too long.

I use my Kindle app mostly on it, so it's a de facto Kindle.

15. Love love love my Kindle!
My sis gave me one for Christmas and it has been fantastic for me in every way. I love my regular books, but this has been wonderful.

Perfect when I'm traveling - so much easier than toting books around. Now I'm in the middle of a move and even though all my books are packed, I still have plenty to read!

I love it!

Lots of free books on there, check it out. Almost all the classics are free - anything from War and Peace to Huck Finn.

16. I LOVE my Kindle!
Just make sure that if you get a cover for it, you get the lighted one. The plain one jacks up the function of the Kindle itself. I had to return mine, but they not only gave me my money back, they let me use it for credit for the new one and gave me the difference to purchase the new lighted one that isn't messing with it. I know we're supposed to hate Amazon, but I've never had anything but good experiences when I buy stuff for them.
I love that I can get books for free, 99 cents, two dollars. It's fantastic. I made my way through the free Sherlock Holmes stories. It was awesome.
I hope you enjoy it. I certainly have!

19. When you buy books online can you read reviews on them? Cause I am addicted
to either authors I have read before or books that have been reccommended by the bookstore or Oprah or some such entity. I will hardly read anything else.

24. I can only speak about Kindle, but you can read customer reviews
on the books whether you order them online or when you shop from your Kindle.

Enjoy.

:hi:

I don't have an e-reader. Don't plan on getting one. I like the feel and smell of a book in my hand. I am also pro publishing houses.

23. I bought myself a Kindle last spring. I love, love, love it.
Two of my friends have gotten their own after seeing mine and my son-in-law is lusting for one. I think he'll probably get one for Father's Day if he doesn't get one before then.

25. I got my Kindle in September
I love it! Be sure to check the Kindle Post when you shop the Kindle Store--they usually have articles there about upcoming books and sometimes have books listed for way below normal prices. There's a Montana author named Craig Lancaster who just released his second novel, The Summer Son, and his first novel, 600 Hours of Edward, was on sale in the Kindle Store for 99 cents. I liked it enough after reading the downloadable sample (something else I've come to love about the Kindle) that I went ahead and bought it. I figured it'd be hard to go wrong since it was only a buck. :)

I also picked up a lined, neoprene slipcase for it by BUILT. It's slim and lightweight and provides some protection for the Kindle. Good thing, too, because I dropped mine on a tile floor yesterday and it didn't get damaged at all thanks to the case. (There are also quite a few people selling Kindle cases over on etsy.com and a lot of them look really good.)

I'm about a third of the way through 600 Hours of Edward and am already looking forward to starting The Summer Son. Good to hear that it's also a good read. :)
