I Need a 1960's era Looking House for a Film Short
I'm going to be doing a film short of one of my short stories this fall and am trying to cover my biggest obstacle. I need to shoot a flashback scene in a house from the early 1960's. I am aware I can do this several ways. If I had the $$$ and my choice it would be to build a set and furnish it. My other choice is to find a house that is semi furnished like that as it is. There is a magazine called Atomic Ranch and I have found several blogs and tumblrs that have given me ideas and inspiration. I would need to shoot a kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom all with the same 60's era theme. Luckily, I have access to a lot of props (bathroom and kitchen bottles and boxes of that era as well as as some other smaller props)

My question is, does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on how I can create this on a small budget? Thanks!

1. A vintage furniture store?
Maybe you could set up your shots there. Or a Salvation Army store? They might let you rent the props and space for a nominal fee in exchange for a credit or publicity. Dana ; )

2. Thanks!
Thanks. I've been researching this since I posted this and think I'm either gonna have to win the lotto or somehow rework my story. I've got pretty much everything else thought of. Not shooting until late summer or fall but wanted to get this big hurdle over with as soon as possible. I will definitely look into what you said but the detail I am looking for does not come cheap. Reality sunk in and I am still recovering. Thanks again!

3. My pleasure
I collect mid-century furniture, housewares, and tools. Our local purveyor displays his wares in room arrangements in his loft showroom, as does the Salvation Army. Good luck! Dana ; )

5. I
I live in Connecticut and there does not seem to be any or many homes like that here. Florida,Arizona, and California seem to be the place to find those awesome homes like the one I am looking for.I found this on YouTube and fell in love.
