Back in August and September, when I realized that our church had to prepare a meal on Halloween for the residents at the local shelter, I asked children at the church to help me come up with ideas to make the meal special in some way: in result, we gave out little pre-filled Halloween bags to the younger shelter residents

So this little one comes up to me today to remind me that I had asked for suggestions for the Halloween party

I agree that I did. She asks whether we've had the party yet. I say we have. There's a pause, so I add that I'm happy to hear her suggestions for next time: she tells me her ideas

A little while later she comes back up to me: When WAS the party?

On Halloween, I say

I'm trying to figure out what happened here. I remember asking her back in August to think about this, and I remember asking for her ideas in late September, but I don't think she had any then, and I'm afraid I probably told her at that time I'd ask her again. I haven't seen her for a while, and I'm wondering if the girl's been waiting since late September for me to ask again for her ideas x(
