Movies that send the message "The Party's Over"
For me, Gimmie Shelter and The Last Waltz do that for me...

2. Yeah - I remember seeing that movie as a kid on TV
and being significantly depressed

3. The 1983 movie The Day After
Where the survivors all go out with a whimper, not a bang. It was so depressingly sad and it's probably the way it would happen if there was a nuclear war.

4. I live in the area parts of that movie is based in.
Nothing more depressing then watching that movie, hopping in the car, and driving about eight miles east to look at the base.

5. "Testament" was another one that did that
Imagine this 16-year old 'tough' teen sobbing his eyes out to that one!

8. That movie was brutal too
Who knows if these movies had an influence on the fact that so far no nuclear bombs have been used after Japan. I know there wasn't any glamor at all in these.

10. But in a Soylent Green universe, I wouldn't be as sad
I mean, probably have enough dead people to eat for a while.

Yeah we killed off all life on Earth - let's hope we learn from this - but we probably wouldn't

12. "Less than Zero" - especially the book, was a perfect critique of the 80's
And yes, the party was over

Ellis one-upped himself later with "American Psycho"

But in that one, the party isn't just over, but YOUR party is over, and the cannibals are eating you for dinner

13. ahh, that is a sad thought.
I do understand the concept of cannibals, it is the idea of losing your soul over time, or your spirit. Some think of that as being eaten by something.

I still have all that I am, I check on that occasionally, see if I am still the same, it gets more difficult without actually going out and being around people.

Note have I mentioned I am due beer and travel money.

Although not around people, I still think the same as I always have, but without further ado.

And since what some think of cannibals can also be pretty nice, might as well play a song.

Fine young Cannibals, but of coarse it is hinted at, and not really part of anything, accept a funny song. LOL

A few songs have been hints in the last few hours, but still good songs :)

15. Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Either the 1956 version (without the tacked-on happy ending)
or the 1978 version.
