6. It never was funny, and never meant to be funny.
Edited on Sun Jun-19-11 03:56 AM by RandomThoughts
Although it is important to find humor in everything.

If you understood that, you would also understand that I am due beer and travel money.

You seem to think it is a joke, it is not.

But how could you know, when you don't even know reality from a joke.

And I don't hold it against you.

Why would I give up, I have a just and compassionate due of beer and travel money, it would make far more sense for that to be sent.

Your perspective is backwards.

8. I don't believe fear should be used as a motivator.
Interestingly, both the dark side, and the light side like people to see the Return of The Jedi Luke Skywalker scene.

The Darkside thinks they are passifying people by that statement. But that is becuase they see only the ground floor.

Although the key to that scene is his resistance was fighting, just not with dark side, not with the hate side the dark emperor wanted.

The lightside knows that it is not hate that makes a person powerful, nor a source of just power, since when a person hates, they get off balance and strike out against wrong things, for wrong reasons.

Best to know what you can know, and let the world bend to correct what needs correcting.

I know I am due beer and travel money, and many experiences. Not sure about the rest of the stuff, nobody knows for sure.

10. Agree.
The Star Wars scene is an analogy, there are hundreds of years worth of other references similar in the demonstration of this dynamic.

Just last Friday I was speaking with a great teacher about this.

He found himself this past year having to use anger and fear to get students to respond, and he felt very sad and uncomfortable about that.

I explained that the primitive side of us responds to fear but it's at the expense of joy and real fulfillment.

Better that they are less productive, but FAR better that he help them find it in themselves that learning and expanding is a reward in itself.

The sad part is that for 50% of his class, this is a wholly underdeveloped set of emotional and cognitive processes.

While the fear-anger-action part is well developed.

I've digressed.

May we all find, and in a most rewarding fashion, the beer and travel money, and the many experiences, that we're all due!

For me explains the difference from Anger and Hate, and passionate cause. It is possible to be focused and having some intent without anger and hate. I think Fury, is what that is called in this scene, and it makes sense.

It can even be for the opposite of hate, but for caring.

It is an interesting comment on focus without anger.

This is a better clip.

Note that the comment about the Citadel of Time Lords, is the same comment as the end of the Fury Clip.

21. Thanks. I especially enjoyed the first clip.
And the description of the dispositions of several characters: trapped in the event horizon; in a mirror (all mirrors); and, most of all, the scarecrow!

"We wanted to live forever. So the Doctor made sure we did."

thanks!

I also saw Rod Serling in person, years ago, because I went to summer camp with his daughter. :)

11. Also a big fan here AND I actually met Burgess Meredith... from the Library Episode...
where he breaks his glasses.

When I was 15 they filmed a movie, "Fat City", with Stacey Keach and Burgess Meredith.

I washed dishes in Fat City Cafe, Burgess's son, Jonathan, worked in the next-door business, Fat City General Store.

The opening of the film was here, Stockton, where the film story takes place.

And I got to go!!!

15 year old ME!

And I got to meet Burgess Meredith!

16. I remember that one...
I recognized the OP's sig pic immediately. And that is much more impressive than my experience, very cool! Burgess Meredith was one of the great ones. Rod Serling was at my camp for the end-of-summer horse show and Jody Serling happened to be in the same class as I was. And she won... Everyone made a big fuss because he was there. I always felt it was fixed. ;) :hi:

Is it: money for beer and travel?

Or is it: beer, plus money for travel?

18. It is beer and travel money.
You can see it how you like, the semantics do not change that it is due.

20. Dear Random Thoughts,
We all want to know (well, some of us would like to know) the meaning of your words "I am due beer and travel money, and many experiences".

It makes me think of many years ago when factories would provide beer to employees at lunchtime, presumably to make the hard work less unpleasant.

The reference to "travel money" similarly evokes some depression era story of leaving home, or traveling for a sales position and not being compensated.

And the "many experiences" strikes me as a more imaginary thing, of expectations not met by either the government, a company, or some other entity.

Open to quite a few different interpretations, part of me likes not knowing.

But if you ever happen to share your inspiration for writing these words, these thoughts, I hope I'm here to share in the sharing.

Have a great Sunday afternoon, Random Thoughts.

22. I have posted it many times.
Edited on Sun Jun-19-11 03:38 PM by RandomThoughts
If you have not seen it, that may be an issue.

Back in the days of playing pool, A good tournament was when you won enough to pay for beer and travel money. Many experiences is the idea of life having a journey also.

So I am due beer and travel money and many experiences.

The actual monetary debt that is due, is for a smear years ago, and must compensate for the wrong done at that time when I was, and still am, defending due process, so it is a literal debt also.

"But America's war grew worse and worse and eventually it came to London. After that there were no roses anymore. Not for anyone." Or that is the intent of many wrongs.

It also is a metaphor built over many years, a form of a tower, so works as a macro for me when posted, to speak of concepts of justice and compassion. All the years of thoughts, much help, and building of levels are included in the macro for the concept of a just due of beer and travel money.

I am due beer and travel money, and many experiences.

24. Ahh
I'm glad you explained that again, as I'd never seen your explanation before and I've been puzzling over your posts and specifically what you meant by beer and travel money, and many experiences. I wasn't sure of what you were saying in most of them, now I might, in light of your metaphor. I like your posts, there was one recently that I really liked alot, although I can't remember what it was about now. I like your metaphor too. I suspect alot of us here are due beer and travel money, and many experiences. I am definitely due the experiences and the beer and the travel money too, the more that I think about it.
