I have been unemployed and my unemployment benefits have expired. I have noticed that BOA have been charging me a maintenance fee on my checking and savings because my balance is so low. So I went to close out my accounts (still leaving my spouses account intact as well as our mortgage). The rep told me that recently they had a software upgrade that unlinked my accounts. In other words, we were never suppose to be charged a service fee because of our mortgage account. She then offered me a pre-approved credit card even knowing that I had no way to pay for it and was closing out my accounts because I had no money. This is really fucked up. And when I do get a job I will open an account at the credit union not BOA. I should have asked her if I could get another mortgage loan too.
