1. Fortunately, here in Georgia we do have seasons.
The summer heat is brutal, but we know that at least fall and winter are just around the corner. I lived in South Florida most of my life until I moved here to North Georgia. The Florida heat is brutal all year round. Maybe in the winter, were there a few cool days. I had one coat that I wore for 15 years.

2. I grew up in Dallas
but have lived in Florida for almost 30 years. I'm not used to it.

Air Conditioning everywhere I go is the only way to be.

I recently wanted to go try a new BBQ place at lunch - I had heard it was very authentic Texas BBQ (like what I grew up on and really really really miss here) and people were raving about how good it was. Well I get there and find out there is no inside seating at all - you go in to order then find a place to sit outside and they bring you your order. The seating area was covered but that didn't matter. I went two stores down to a Mexican place instead.

I hear the BBQ place is planning a new location up by my Grandpa's house and it will have inside seating. Maybe someday I'll get to see what all the hubbub is about.

6. You suffer. Trust me (as one who grew up without AC), you don't want to go through that.

I like our falls (maybe a week or so) and spring (a few days, at most).

And our winters are mild. Usually.

7. We get two weeks of winter every year.
That's enough.
It's a lot easier to cool off than to get warm.

8. Turn up the AC.
Strip down to boxer-briefs. And stay indoors.

9. Never get used to it - NEVER.
I was born and raised in PA; moved to Texas years ago. It doesn't seem to matter how long I live here, I absolutely hate July and August. Right about now is the worst - the forecast is over 100 for the foreseeable future. It makes me want to do nothing but sit in the AC all day.

11. We're conditioned to it, but when we play sports or mow the grass, there's a product called
"Florida Water" that we use to offset the heat. Put a couple of capsful into an ice chest full of ice & water, dip a towel or sweatbands into it, & it magically cools your body down.

And, LynneSin, you might be shocked at this, but I have my PC on my back porch where I do most of my posting. I've got my ceiling fan & an oscillating fan, &, really, I'm quite comfortable & happy. I LOVE my back porch!

It's the winter I can't tolerate. Thank GOODNESS it doesn't snow down here!

Different strokes, different folks (bless your hearts).

:)

12. Get outside and let your body adjust
and drink plenty of fluids while doing so.

As one of the other folks above noted, in GA we do have seasons, and the last few mornings I could smell the first early hints of Fall (and football season!) not being too far away.

13. Not as bad on the coast, but I stay inside a lot.
I grew up in the deep south without A/C and somehow we made it.
