His Uncle Jack was a B-17 navigator in WWII.
Gary got him a ride on a B-17 recently.

10. Y'know, back during the Vietnam war, when I was in high school, I spent the

weekend with a friend at his father's hunting lodge. His father was extremely rightwing: he and I didn't agree about anything. We drove out in the very early morning. And as we drove in the dark, his father suddenly shushed us and turned up the radio. Baez was singing. When the song was over, the rightwinger said -- I can't stand her politics, but boy! can she sing!

He's long dead now. Truth be told, I don't remember anymore what we argued about. I remember that he liked to hear Joan Baez sing, even though her politics made him furious

5. My dad has a friend who died recently. When he was about 90 a local

entrepreneur bought a spitfire and called him because he had flown a spitfire during WWII. As the phonecall ended the entrepreneur asked him if he wanted to take the spitfire out for a spin!!! LOL!
