OK I've got a pet question.
Is the dramatic change in how fast the litterbox gets totally rank a symptom of anything?
I'm leaning to either the increased humidity or the cheap shitty litter we use, but DAMN, it seems like the whole thing needs changing every three days when we've usually gone much longer. No physical symptoms from Mamakitty, but she is going on 11 or is it 12, now...
Diet same, or wait we went back to Wellness from innova this summer...could that be it? I don't recall.this much stench from Wellness in the past.

1. I just got a new cat about a month ago, and he had the worst
BM odors (it was also runny). It did not clear up after a few weeks on the same food, so my vet gave him Metronidozole and it cleared up and is not rank (comparatively speaking). So although I am not sure of your situation, I do realize that a digestive problem or infection will cause this.

But I will also say that heat and humidity could make the litter box stink more, and the cat may not be feeling in top shape because of heat. See if you can wait until the weather cools off and see if it gets better, and if not, have her checked out.

Also, my first attempt to resolve my problem was to give my new cat a little yogurt to see if it was just an imbalance of needed bacteria, and that did help---as long as I was giving him the yogurt. It just didn't clear it up permanently. (I know, dairy products are a bad idea, but it did work and I was at my wit's end.)

2. It seems to be both urine and poop
Which also points to external cause but man, it was dramatic. I will try some yogurt. Cant hurt.

Maybe time to upgrade the litter too, although I'm such a cheapskate I hate to spend money on pet toilet function. The rest of them go outside .She is spoiled.

4. Then it sounds like it is just the weather. That is if this is the same litter
you have been using for a while. I have found that the type of litter does matter. If I buy the really cheap litter, I always have more odor. If you can afford it, try a better quality. I use a clumpable kind and clean it out daily. I have always used a clumpable except for before it was invented (get this, $20 for a 7 pound bag when I started using it in the 1980's---good god---but I had a boss who made me try it because he was so impressed).

5. Peeewwww, asparagus! Did you know
that only 20% of the population can smell that in urine? Or so I am told.

6. Not to alarm you, but watch for diabetes. Is she drinking a lot?
Just watch her for a bit and see.
