Today's College Football Thread
Several big games today, including:

#3 Alabama at #12 Florida
#8 Nebraska at #7 Wisconsin
#13 Clemson at #11 Virginia Tech
#14 Texas A&M at #18 Arkansas

My Sooners play the Ball State Cardinals, which shouldn’t be a terribly competitive game. Meanwhile, the unexpectedly-ranked and undefeated Fighting Illini play Northwestern for homecoming.

So who does your team play today? What games will you be watching?

Hi,
Are my fellow cornheads as nervous about this one as I am? Word is 20K Husker fans there, hopefully most took Dr. Tom's advice to wear black.

Peace

21. It'll be a very appropriate welcome to the Big 10, I think.
NU is, as usual, overrated, and will go up against a team that can match it strength for strength. What will be fun, I think, will be to see two teams who play such a similar style of ball go against each other, rather than some scary SEC team.

9. It would be fun to be there, wouldn't it
And I'm not heavily invested in either team (though I was born in Wisconsin, so I tend to root for them, all things equal), but I'd like to see a game at Camp Randall Stadium someday, and this is bound to be about as good as it gets, I'd think.

11. good lineup
I'll probably catch some of the WSU game -- I'd like to see some of the UW-Utah game, but it's at the same time as Oklahoma, so I'm not sure how much attention I'll be able to pay.

I haven't seen them play yet this year, but I see that WSU has won a couple of games and apparently has a pretty good passing attack -- reason for optimism?

16. Hopefully WSU can get their starting QB back
from a broken clavicle suffered in the first game of the year. The senior back-up has been putting up some yards but also more than a few turnovers.

7. Arkansas and A&M now tied at 35 in the 4th quarter
About 11 minutes left. A&M has been a touchdown or two ahead for most of the game, but Arkansas just tied it up.

12. good finish between Northwestern and Illinois
Illinois was down 18 points midway through the third quarter, but scored three straight touchdowns to take a 3-point lead with about five minutes left.

Then Northwestern was on the edge of field goal range, decided to go for it on 4th down and Illinois stopped them with about three minutes left. Then Illinois fumbles on their next offensive play (:banghead:) and Northwestern scores a touchdown with 1:18 left to retake the lead. Illinois can be pretty good at finding a way to lose.

But this time they put together another touchdown drive and scored with about 13 seconds left. Northwestern ran one offensive play, went with the hook and ladder, and it actually looked like they might score a touchdown Stanford-Band style, but Illinois got the tackle and the win.

Now Illinois is 5-0, apparently for the first time since 1951. I don't know whether to :woohoo: or :wow: (or perhaps just :wtf:).

22. I was pleasantly surprised (okay, pleasantly shocked) that they came back from 18
The way they were playing on both sides of the ball, I thought at that point we didn't have much chance. What a game, though.

"Let's just hope we can keep it going..."

I'm trying not to get too excited, but dangit, I'm starting to get excited. Should beat Indiana next week and then Ohio State comes to town. Could easily be undefeated going into Penn State--and if they get through that there would be a showdown with Michigan. GameDay might even come to town. But I get ahead of myself

But today was fun to see :toast:

31. LOL I know.... many years as an Illinois fan has conditioned me not to get too excited

But... 6-0 is definitely plausible, and 7-0 is certainly within the realm of possibility... so I will join you in my cautious optimism!

25. It's rainy in Salem
Linfield drove deep into Willamette territory and coughed up the waterlogged football. Bearcats have come back to score 10 points and make it 17-10. Linfield now has the ball at the Willamette 10, fourth quarter not passing by quickly enough.

26. 3:17 to go, Linfield 20-10
And Willamette, which had high hopes of making the playoffs, will go to 1-3. Linfield is 3-0, and getting in shape to make another championship run.
