Andy Rooney's final 60 Minutes.
Morley Safer presented a retrospective of Rooney's long career in journalism.
Andy spoke of his lifetime friendships with Walter Cronkite and Harry Reasoner. And then the final essay.

Thank you, Andy for so many laughs and smiles and memorable moments.

"So long, it's been good to know yuh.
This dusty old dust is a-gettin' my home,
And I got to be driftin' along." - Woody Guthrie

1. "And if you see me in a restaurant....
just let me enjoy my dinner".

Loved him.

Will miss his weekly bits.

2. Thanks for the Woody quote, Graybeard.
Now the kids will have to look up "curmudgeon" in the dictionary.

3. Minutes after Rooney finished his final comments, a team of nurses silently entered the room...
a termination specialist swiftly and painlessly administered the final cocktail. Rooney grew drowsy almost immediately, bade farewell to his colleagues, wife, and grandchildren and then quietly passed away at 8:19 (7:19 Central).

4. I still haven't forgiven Rooney for his series of bigoted remarks
Or for his tirade at young people after the death of Kurt Cobain. I was 24 at the time, and while I wasn't devastated like the girl at whom Rooney directed his comments, I took what he said personally. Rooney clearly did not understand our generation and the troubles many of us had. He was an old fool, and he clearly had no qualms about showing that to the world.

5. It took me a while forgive Andy after his Cobain statement
But hell, he's the same age as my dad, who died over 30 years ago, so I cut him some slack.
