Deanna Troi nearly had three breasts and other things you didn't know about Star Trek: TNG
In early brainstorming, the producers wanted Deanna Troi to have three breasts, just like that woman in Total Recall. But producer D.C. Fontana objected — she told Entertainment Weekly, "I objected to Troi having three breasts. I felt women have enough trouble with two. And how are you going to line them up? Vertically, horizontally, or what? I was like, please, don't go there. And they didn't, fortunately."

Remember Mick Fleetwood's cameo? Me neither:

3. Probably a good thing for Marina Sirtis.
That little decision saved her from endless hours of boring and probably embarrassing time in the special effects/makeup chair putting on a prosthesis before each day of shooting.

"Bunny Suit".

Also, "Star Trek TNG, The Early Years: In Search Of An Accent."

6. The early TNG costumes were a hazard to the actors...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starfleet_uniforms#The_Next_Generation_era

In the show's early seasons, the uniforms were one-piece jumpsuits made of Spandex, and sized slightly too small so that they would be stretched when worn and provide a smooth appearance. The cast disliked the uniforms' painfully tight fit and lack of pockets, and after doctors warned that they risked permanent skeletal injury, the actors persuaded the costumers to gradually replace them with wool uniforms. The wool uniforms, which most main cast members wear from the third season onward, are two-piece (shirt and pants) designs that lack colored piping on the shoulders and edges of the pant leg cuffs and have a raised collar.

And those jumpsuits looked like shit, too. The later uniforms were much better. The ones started being used in First Contact, were IMO, the best uniforms of any ST series or movie ever.

9. The later ones were no picnic either
Jeri Ryan's catsuit on Voyager used to make her pass out.

Within the show, the rationale was given that the catsuit had been designed by the Doctor with certain properties that would help her maintain her human skin once her Borg exoplating had been removed; the further explanation was that Seven would feel more comfortable wearing clothing which mimicked that exoplating. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_of_Nine#Attire

No explanation was given for the six inch high heels. :)

12. She was probably the best actor on that show
and she had to do it in extreme discomfort. Like what they said about Ginger Rogers: Sure, Fred Astaire was great, but don't forget Ginger Rogers did everything he did backwards... and in high heels!
