WATER!

So, for the last 24 days (is that all? seems like it was a hella lot longer) we have not had running water at my house. In that time I had a guest from Germany for over a week. We were using 5 gallon buckets to flush the toilet, heating water on the stove for dish and hand washing. Washing with buckets and pans. Hauling 2 55 gallon barrels 5 miles over some REALLY bad road. I even did a couple loads of laundry but that used so much water and was such a pain in the ass (back!)

Anybody that EVER complains about a water bill in front of me will get a long story/lecture about the fabulous LUXURY that is running water at any cost.

I am just so grateful to the universe for not doing this to me in May or June when the livestock are dependent on well water.

And the hell that is my luck sometimes? We aren't out of the woods yet - this new pump that has been giving us problems from day one is now leaking oil. It has basically been rebuilt already at less than 2 months of use, we have rearranged our whole set up that worked with an identical make and model pump in the old arrangement for more than 15 years, spent all this time with no water at the headquarters, plus running back and forth hauling wash and yard water in barrels, not able to get much of anything done waiting, waiting, waiting for word on the damn thing and now it is up and running but leaking oil. shit. told the well guy "Nope I need it for a week before you can take it back out, I MUST fill some storages before we shut it down again."

Oh and I am leaving for Chihuahua tomorrow.:rofl:

where we are going the water is pretty safe, I never worry about it unless I'm up in the hills or some really crowded city.

I need the break SO bad, but I don't know if I am going to really be able to relax - not enough settled with things here. But I will be back Tuesday so I suppose the world will survive with out me for a few days.;-)

guess what -- got my water troubles solved too.

2 trips for a total of $310.oo

pretty sure the second trip was caused by something they did on the first trip and they ripped me off for about $50.oo

but, what can you do, right? :shrug:

water !!!! precious water !!!!

at least I didn't have to install another pump. :bounce:

I remember when we replaced our kitchen floor, cabinets, & countertops. We thought we'd save money if we tore out the old stuff (including the linoleum on the floor!), but what we hadn't anticipated was having problems getting a contractor to come in & replace everything.

We were without a kitchen sink for about 3 weeks & it wasn't fun going to the bathroom sink. But it was NOTHING compared to what you've been through.
