Beer drinkers here may not like the latest rumor...
Now it 's JUST a rumor, but the rumor is that Budweiser will merge with Miller.

No joke.

1. Great. Wonderful. Who gives a shit.
Let me know when we are talking about actual beer in this thread.
I'd rather fill my mug from the toilet, than drink either one of those crap bullshit so-called beers.

3. Not a beer drinker here...
I do have many relatives and friends who enjoy beer.

Including my neighbor who drinks Bud Light.

4. Bud is owned by the European brewer InBev
If that merger ever happened, the company would own way too many beer brands.

I think the largest American owned brewery is Sam Adams now.

Had a nice Leviathan Imperial Rye, now I'm mellowing out with a Buffalo Bill's Pumpkin Ale.

Now that IS beer.

from MillerCoors, inc.

Fortunately, there are many good alternatives. This is not like ATT merging with T-Mobile.

14. THere is a British pub near my work
that we visit for the occasional lunch and after work unwinding. It's a fun place that has Guinness on tap as well as some other imports that are fun and different for us 'mercans. It's run by a coupla Brits and great Scottish bartender who keeps us cracked up L'ing our A's Off most of the night. Now this place is in a very touristy part of town and they serve a wide variety of folks from all over Europe. IO have partied with Brits (of course) but also tons of Germans and Belgians and Czechs and Poles and all manner of people lucky enough to come from the places I consider to be the Meccas and Medinas of beer production. The holy grails for my eventual beers around the world trip I hope I someday get to take. Places where they can get Chimay on tap for breakfast.

And it just floors me when they come here and insist on drinking Budweiser all night long.

I guess it is all in what you're used to. The grass is always greener. I just don't understand how Budweiser isn't considered to be crabgrass.

Then again, my mother-in-law was raised on a cattle ranch in Indiana. They had steak for dinner every night she was growing up. She is so sick of steak she's happier with bean burritos from Taco Bell now.

Life is fucking weird man.

21. Years ago I had a friend from Europe who drank gallons of Old Milwaukee.
Buying cases of very cheap beer in a supermarket was part of the USA experience.

26. lol it was part of my teenage experience too
But then, when I was a teenager in Texas the minimum age was 18 and before that, well, let's just say us 16 and 17 year olds had a well known list of places that were friendly to anyone with the 5 bucks for a case of Lone Star.

But my excuse for drinking cases of cheap swill was I didn't know any better. I couldn't just pop over to the monastary and grab a pint of trappist ale from the cask. (And yes, in my imagination, those lucky bastard Belgians can just pop over to the monastary and grab a pint of ale whenever they want. Reality has no place in this discussion.)

Maybe they are amazed at how we can produce cans of beerish colored liquid and people buy it.

20. Dogfish is as close as my kitchen since I always have some in the fridge
but the main brewery is in the southern part of the state or about 75 minute drive.

But just about every bar up here in Northern Delaware has some form of dogfish in it. If you go to the Washington Street Ale House here in Wilmington they'll serve some of the speciality stuff.
