Question for professional Facebookers, please
Edited on Sat Oct-08-11 02:32 PM by Dystopian
I've not had any interest in Facebook...
Yet have some questions...

If you put up a photo, can you delete it?
I was told that profile photos can be changed/removed/deleted, but there is another (?) place for photos that can't be removed once they are put up.

I have no desire to join Facebook....
But would appreciate the information...
Personal thing...

I always have insight...and know what and who I'm dealing with.
I know who...but don't know Facebook.
I have a feeling that this is not true...considering the source.
A dancer with truth.

It would be nice to be proved that my intuition is wrong.

Thank you in advance...

peace~

1. Yes, you can delete a photo.
Just click on it and on the bottom right hand corner is an option to delete the photo.

But, if you've put it up, you don't know if someone has already saved it.....

Thank you for sharing that also...
:loveya:
Because that's what he'll say...that he didn't really know much about the site.
Just like he said about the other site...At least I knew about that one.

Must be hell trying to keep the lies straight ....
Too much energy and all...

Thank you for sharing your time and knowledge with me...

8. I understand...
If I used it....would probably have more contact with my daughter who is always on the go...
I'm not a very social person...so have no need.

This was about an odd and (now reoccurring) situation....
And your advice really helped....
Family first...fun:-)
:loveya:

4. Yes, you can delete anything you've posted.
You can't delete any photos that someone else has posted, all you can do is untag yourself in them making them harder to find for people you know.

My college friends have a nasty habit of posting pics of me when I weighed 340# and I have to keep untagging myself.

6. Thank you!
I knew a little bit about tagging.....
Sorry your college friends are being a pain...

Know what?
This is cute....
Every time I see one of your posts I picture you in a denim shirt...
:loveya:
And I wonder if you'd even remember...
:D

peace & love~

9. You of course can use a random image for your profile pic, or none at all.
Know that there are two live feeds; one is of Status Updates where you purposefully share things, and everyone on your friend list can see it, and "like" it or share it (all of their friends will be able to see them doing so and can click on it to see where it came from), and there is a ticker-tape style monitor which shows all posts friends are making.

The point is that you can connect with anyone on the site, if you try, or they can find you. You can keep your overall profile and information private, but it's always possible to Google directly to someone's page(s).

I'm extremely introverted but am enjoying Facebook, contrary to my initial thoughts. Just know that it's -meant- for everyone to see everyone, with a layer or two to prevent it if you wish.

Best to you, always follow your intuition.

11. Pondering....
I am now thinking that perhaps I will join...
Only problem...I'm a teacher and know that many parents will want to 'friend' me...
It's happened to others I know...so will probably not use my full name.
Some of the teachers I know are 'friends' with the parents...I don't think that's cool ... ethical.

One thing I don't understand...If my profile is private...how can someone google to a private profile?
It's just there, right? No information seen?...Just the profile pic and nothing else?

Thank you for your help...and good wishes...
And as far as my intuition, I'm usually right.
In fact, spot on.

There are a few DUers I'd like to be more 'friendly' with...
Thanks for sharing your introversion...we are many.
It's nice that you reached out...
Thank you, Fire Walk With Me

peace~

12. if you make your profile private
only your friends will be able to read it. Everyone else will see a message about how your profile is private. (Not exact wording but close enough.)

For friend requests you have to respond. Accept their requests if you like, click "not now" if you don't want to accept them, or do what I do-just don't answer it at all. My ex has sent me four requests. I denied the first three and the fourth has been sitting in pending for the past year.

I also have my profile where I have to approve everything I'm tagged in, so I know exactly what has my name on it.

And if you're looking for people on facebook I'm always willing to add someone else on my list.

13. That was helpful ..thank you : )
xmas74:hug:
It originally sounded extremely complicated...If I should join, will wander about attempting to locate settings.
Especially the tagging feature...
I'm still on the fence...

I'm glad your ex finally got the hint ....not healthy for an ex to want to be friends on facebook...
I've seen it lead to obsessive checking up on what the other is doing and who he/she may be dating, etc.
It's kind of like granting permission to stalk...
Some need to just move on...

Thank you for taking the time to explain...
I'm learning ...

peace~
