Let's deal with 2 topics: Pretentiousness, and, fiber
Edited on Sun Oct-09-11 08:57 PM by UTUSN
So this person, with whom we have NO contact/relation, out of the blue, RANDOM ACTS, sent me a gift, whatever.

What would YOU do. Was it thoughtful, was it nuts, what?!1

This thread would be more interesting with more context but what the hey...

Oh, ON EDIT, forgot the FIBER part. Ummm, "Fiber One" is tasty and therefore

1. Kinda depends on what your past relationship was and what the gift is
Like, if it's an ex-spouse and the gift involves a ticking clock and battery and wires and other such stuff, then it might be one thing

If it's an old friend, just sending you a book the person thinks you might like to read, then it might be another thing

4. Since yours is a thoughtful reply, I'll reply: It's a blood cousin no contact/relationship
but we've got an enormous family history. But not personal. Anyway, it's like in our old age she is reaching out, fine. Why?!1 Fine.

5. bored? lonely? doing something she always meant to do but never got around to?
there are lots of possibilities. maybe she's spent all the money from her last con job and is looking for a new mark. i dunno

i'd probably respond, cautiously, with something that wasn't too personal: "thanks for the propeller hat. btw, do you know whatever happened to our second cousin thrice-removed jake after he moved his dental floss factory to montana" or something like that
