Who wants to help me find a very old book title?
Edited on Mon Oct-17-11 03:54 PM by WillParkinson
It was a kid's book about a boy who started a collection of soup cans. They continued to grow. I distinctly remember his father speaking and saying that he couldn't afford a museum this year but maybe next. At the end the boys grandfather gets him interested in either coins or stamps, don't rightly recall which one.

I've been trying different combinations of searches online but not coming up with what it was and it's driving me even more batty than normal.

(Ack, had to switch library to museum. See what happens when Paul is talking at the same time?)

4. No...
And if I could remember the kids name I'm certain I'd know the name of the book though I can't recall why. I'm not sure if it was old when I read it.

The kid wanted to collect something and he became enamored with the labels of the cans and the collection grew to epic proportions until it was using up many rooms of the family house.

13. There's a book titled Canned. Is this what you're lookin' for?
Fergal Bamfield doesn't collect stamps like normal kids. He's an oddball (his mother prefers to call him "clever"), and his collection is as strange as everything else about him. Fergal Bamfield collects tin cans.
Then one day he finds a can without a label. What could be in it? Peaches, soup, perhaps revolting spam? But instead it's something gruesome: a human finger. Then Fergal finds another can, this time containing a one-word message, HELP! Now Fergal and his friend Charlotte are knee-deep in an adventure, and they're about to learn something horrible: Everybody has an expiration date.

22. ha! from a review on amazon.com
"This book can safely be considered "old school" and is appropriate for those who well... are pretty much fed up with leftist storytelling. .. This book is very appropriate for conservatives and others who do not want a political/social agenda affecting their kids"
