Five start of week questions
1. For Halloween month: do you think your house/place of residence might be haunted?

2. Also for Halloween month: what are you planning to do on Oct. 31?

3. Any celeb crushes at the moment?

4. How varied is the music you like?

5. What book are you reading now?

My answers:

1. No, I don't

2. Going out during the Trick or Treat, and then will watch the GhostHunters live show. They will be in my area this year investigating PennHurst Asylum.

3. I'll list the significant ones.

Actresses: Alyssa Milano, Natalie Portman, Jennifer Connelly, Kaley Cuoco, Zooey Deschanel, Amber Tamblyn, Sharon Case (plays Sharon on Young and the Restless), Adrienne Frantz, Yvonne Zima (plays Daisy on Y&R), Elizabeth Hendrickson (plays Chloe on Y&R), Alison Lohman, Salma Hayek, Minka Kelly, Candice Acccola

Singers: Alison Sudol (A Fine Frenzy), Kelly Ogden, Andrea Corr, Michelle Branch, Joanna Pacitti, Lights

Other: Kris Williams of GhostHunters International

Honorable mentions: Anna Faris, Thandie Newton, Kristen Stewart, Lindsay Sloane, Kat Dennings, Marissa Nadler, Ingrid Michaelson, Cassadee Pope, Susanna Hoffs, Bree Sharp

4. I love everything from classic rock to pop to power pop to rock to Motown to singer/songwriter to folk to classical.

5. Angel from the Maximum Ride series (by James Patterson). Yes, it's geared more towards younger people, but it's good escapism for all. Patterson writes with some good humor.

1. Answers.
1. For Halloween month: do you think your house/place of residence might be haunted?

No. My building is only 30 years old and while a few of the original tenants have died, most of the original owners still live in their units. We have a serial arsonist, but no ghosts.

2. Also for Halloween month: what are you planning to do on Oct. 31?

I don't have plans yet. ISO Halloween party.

3. Any celeb crushes at the moment?

I have one on the actress Michelle Williams going back to HS, a local newscaster I went to college with, a friend of mine from an old job who is now a working actress, and one on Anne Hathaway. My friends are amused...they're all age-appropriate. I usually don't date women over 23.

4. How varied is the music you like?

Extremely.

5. What book are you reading now?

House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski.

18. Explanation of varied music tastes.
I'm slightly-tone-deaf/hoh so it's all poems to me basically. I like words. Not surprisingly my taste thus crosses genre but it very lyric-oriented.

Right now listening to lots of hip-hop, Metric, DCFC, Decemberists, Tarkio, Jeff Buckley, Leonard Cohen, Elliott Smith, Coheed and Cambria, The Blue Van, Thrice, Silversun Pickups, Smashing Pumpkins, Gogol Bordello, Bright Eyes, Neko Case, Jenny Lewis, Rilo Kiley, Florence + The Machine, Lykke Li, Mumford & Sons, Jets to Brazil (oh so so much JtB. I just rediscovered how much I love them.)

It depends on how I feel and how I want to feel, how I want to project how I feel.

this year. My neighborhood doesn't have as many kids of trick-or-treat age as it used to anyway. :hi:

5. We have small acreage between the houses, no streetlights...
..no sidewalks and tall hedges. Always surprises me a bit when I hear treaters out
on the narrow road at night. Town has a variety of Halloween parties for all ages.

6. Hmmm
1. For Halloween month: do you think your house/place of residence might be haunted?
Not a chance. Buying a new house soon though. As for the new one, we'll see.

2. Also for Halloween month: what are you planning to do on Oct. 31?
Hide from the kids in the neighborhood. I get anywhere from 1 to 70 kids coming to the door. The For Sale sign out front will probably keep most of them away, so I'll just turn the porch light off and not worry about it this year.

3. Any celeb crushes at the moment?
Kate Beckinsale. Always Kate Beckinsale. Oh, I almost forgot, there's Kate Beckinsale. Seriously, how can a heterosexual man not have a crush on this person?

4. How varied is the music you like?
Pearl Jam, Widespread Panic, Johnny Cash, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Led Zeppelin, Will Hoge.

5. What book are you reading now?
Technical Writing. It's for school. Decidedly uninteresting.

8. first time ever answering
1) could be haunted - we live in an old 2-story with lots of history.
2) We usually sit on the porch and dispense candy - BUT this year it looks like our tutoring group is scheduled for that night. We amy change the schedule.
3) I am a news geek - so it Rachel and Amy Goodman and Laura Flanders as always
4) not very varied at all (mostly '60s & '70s and anti-wwar stuff)
5) "Doubt - a history" Jennifer Michael Hecht - doubt through the ages - no matter what the gods were someone didn't believe

9. Thanks for answering. You did well!

Don't worry about your music taste not being varied. There is no better or worse with that question. IMO, we all like what we like. I'd love to create a general favorite music artists topic, but it never seems to get a lot of response. Maybe because it's been done before. But updates of the music lists are fun, IMO.

11. My answers
1. For Halloween month: do you think your house/place of residence might be haunted? No. There are no such things as ghosts, hoodoos, boogeymen or spirits. There are, however, Teabaggers. And like their ancestors, the Nazis, they scare the shit out of me.

2. Also for Halloween month: what are you planning to do on Oct. 31? Take kids trick-r-treating

3. Any celeb crushes at the moment? Demi Moore. She's available now, I hear.

4. How varied is the music you like? Let me put it this way, today I listened to a mix that included JS Bach, The Peddlers, The Clash, Soul Position, Rage Against the Machine, Slayer, Townes Van Zandt and Screaming Trees.

5. What book are you reading now? 'Papa John' by John Phillips. Man, he did a lot of drugs.

Teabaggers are far scarier! They say it's the live ones you have to worry about. :hi:

14. Hmmmm
1. For Halloween month: do you think your house/place of residence might be haunted?
Nope. Don't believe in anything supernatural. I WISH there was but I don't believe there is.
2. Also for Halloween month: what are you planning to do on Oct. 31?
will probably watch TV and drink beer and watch people come to the door for my free candy. I will not, however, be getting out of my chair. Wife and daughter can handle that.
3. Any celeb crushes at the moment?
Oh tons but especially Zooey Deschanel and Helen Mirren
4. How varied is the music you like?
my music server at work has close to 30,000 songs on it and I load them all up in winamp and randomize the list and let it ride. The last 10 up were:
Louis Logic - Lecture Room
Sargeist - Frowning, Existing
Rush - Afterimage
Neil Young - Old Man
Outkast - So Fresh and So Clean
Flatt & Scruggs - You're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone
Depresy - In Multam Noctem - Nocturnal Blackness
Horna - Hautajaisyo
Asheru - For Old Times Sake (You might know them as the rap group that does the theme song for The Boondocks)
Death - Suicide Machine
but there could just as easily been 70's disco, 80's new wave, Miles Coltrane, lots of classical and modern pop. About the only genres of music I have a hard time finding something to like are the -core subgenres of metal and alternative/grunge/nu-metal

5. What book are you reading now?
I'm currently in between books - I had been reading the Mark Twain autobiography but the library wanted it back before I could finish. That is a big mofo. They wouldn't let me renew it as it seems to be pretty popular but I'll get it again when I can. He was a pretty funny fella.

15. 1. Sometimes
An infant died in my room before I lived there. Sometimes I feel a presence, though I don't believe in God, so not sure I am allowed to believe in ghosts or spirits. :)

2. Also for Halloween month: what are you planning to do on Oct. 31?

Go Trick-or-Treating! :bounce:

3. Any celeb crushes at the moment?

Really feeling Lil Kim again. She's always been my girl, but lately have gotten back into listening to her.

4. How varied is the music you like?

Very! Like all types mainly. Not so big into country, but country-pop is kinda cool.

5. What book are you reading now?

The Confession by John Grisham

16. Hi - what do you think of The Confession?
Without revealing things, I thought the end drags out too long and the protests are clumsily written, but overall I enjoyed it and it hit on the problems with our system.
