1. In times past, I've had success snaking a straightened wire hanger as far down as I could

and wiggling it around. But it could be I just tried that because I didn't have a plunger - can't really recall...

4. You could try something longer and flexible as well - a bit of garden hose,

or maybe an old extension cord or something. My googlage also suggests dish detergent and hot water for a while, followed by a plunging, or baking soda plus vinegar with a subsequent plunge... :shrug:

meanwhile use a quarter to half a cup of bleach to sanitize (and if you are getting any drainage at all, it may soften the clog as well.

Gonna pick up an auger and some boric acid. Both are much cheaper than a plumber.

6. It sounds weird, but a very good tool is a piece of flexible electrical conduit.

Unwind a little bit of the far end. It makes a deadly tool for hooking up whatever is stuck, usually something pretty repulsive.

Ask at the hardware store if you don't know what I mean. They know what I mean.
