1. That is indeed something to be grateful for.

Someone in my family is making that transition now, and even with resources it has been incredibly stressful and upsetting for her and those caring for her now. I wish the best for your mother.

give me a strong emotional baseline. My mom seems better today. I just hope she can live where she is well into the future.

6. Compared to the past, I have very few physical assets to be thankful for.
.
.
.
But, circumstances having been what they are, I'm fortunate for just
plain life (even with being Fucking Immortal n' all)... so I find myself
appreciating MANY more things now than I did when I had so much "more".
.
.
Today, in particular, I was happy for the burning on my lips from some
Tapatio & lime chips and the fact that it was cold enough that I had to
get all cozy and warm as toast by wrapping up in a blanket.
.
I've always liked Rocky Dennis' poem from the movie "Mask":
.
These things are good:
ice cream and cake,
a ride on a Harley,
seeing monkeys in the trees,
rain on my tongue
and the sun shining on my face.

These things are a drag:
dust in my hair,
holes in my shoes,
no money in my pocket
and the sun shining on my face.

.
.
What I am most grateful for (and most often grateful for) is getting
to share in the warmth and affection and kindness and joy and
concerns of so many friends.
.

Over the decades, I've gone through MANY stages of divesting assets
and simplification of my life, both through intent and circumstance
and I have found the sentiment in the picture below to be very VERY
true.
.
If we can just focus on what we DO have -- rather than what we DON'T ..
I think most of us would realize that we're pretty well-off, indeed.
.
.

.
"Rant" off.
