The White House M & M's: will they never die?

The evening news showed Barack and Michelle giving out special White House M & M's at the Halloween party at the White house today.

A close friend worked on the Clinton White House staff. One of the perks was the use of the Presidential box at the Kennedy Center when not in demand by a certain president. The entire available food in the fridge in this place was the M & M's in their special presidential box, Korbel splits with a special White House label, and a brand of gourmet jellybeans, legacy of the Reagan era.

White House M & M's would pop up at other events, too; entirely average in their different box.

But why? Why should they exist at all?

1. I wouldn't eat blue or white M&Ms on a bet. But the cigarette pack's cute.

2. I actually have a pack of those from the Secret Service when they were in Milwaukee...

They stayed at the hotel I work for and I arranged for them to get food. They were grateful and gave me several goodies. One of the goodies was a box of Presidential M & M's from George Bush. They had the Yellow M & M on the front. You know, the not too bright one. It made me laugh to think of how closely the packaging mirrored the reality of who I got them from.
