A DU recipe book as a fund raiser?
Tell me what you think. List your recipes and I can put them together and send them to the Mods. It could help raise money to keep DU going and beat up Freepers and get Chimpy out of the house he stole.

1. Careful Demman. Somebody suggested a calendar a while back.
I added that it would make a great fundraiser for both DU and the eventual Dem candidate. All hell broke loose upon the idea and it just sunk. Let's hope this has more luck.

4. I remember that, too...

But, this isn't a calendar. It's just a recipe book...no real harm in it, I guess...

10. Well, there was speculation that it would be some
kind of popularity contest. Some people also thought it would be a swimsuit kind of thing. I suggested that the calendar pages be collages of photos that DUers had already sent it to the Gallery. No luck. Someone always had some reason why we couldn't do the Calendar.

6. How about a bar guide?
Several of us have sent favorite liquid recipes when the bar was open.

No reason a cookbook couldn't have a drinks section, though, I reckon.

12. I have a great Dutch Oven recipe for Uncrustables

What are Uncrustables®?
Uncrustables® are the perfect "grab-and-go" sandwich for families on the move. Simply keep them in the freezer, then pack them in your lunch in the morning. By lunchtime, Uncrustables® are thawed and ready to eat.

:(.. copyright issues and recipe "ownership" was an issue..

We could do it for ourselves though :)

We had thoought of starting different threads in the meeting room for different recipes..

Entrees..
Meatless entrees
Desserts
Veggies
Breads
Pasta
etc etc

21. You need to get permission from DU and then get an editor
One should not publish a recipe that you are going to sell without checking first for copyright infringement of the recipes. Then you need some one to MAKE every recipe a minimum of 2 times each as a test.

I have copied a recipe from DU and wasted all my ingredients. When I PMed the person who posted it here, they realized they had given the wrong measurements for the dry ingredients.

A fund raiser that sells bad recipes can hurt the organization you want to help via legal problems.

It may hurt the reputation of the organization if the recipes are incorrect in measurements, baking times, etc.
