2. ****Spoiler*****
I was just so relieved that Lucy knew what to do giving birth. The way she looked when she heard the crying gave me doubts. I was so glad to see her holding the baby. If I were Van Alden, I think I would have had a stroke when I saw Rose in that room with Lucy.

5. Michael Shannon plays him perfectly too
He is so askew, I couldn't believe he held it together when he saw his wife with Lucy.

7. I can't find an emotion to feel about him
He creeps me out, he's pitiful and unlikable....but I like him.

11. The actor is Angelica Huston's nephew
I like him too. A tear came to my eye when he was looking at his scrapbook. I love that the dog saved him, that was beautiful.

17. I can't watch it because I don't have HBO, and that is a good thing,
because I might want to see it despite it being filled with violence and gore.

21. Rent it.
I can't believe I got into it as much as I have. Plus having Steve Buscemi and Michael Pitt starring makes it all the more interesting.

16. So were the scenes with Eli and Nucky, and Eli and George.
Edited on Mon Oct-31-11 05:56 PM by AngryOldDem
I found the fight very hard to watch, not because of the physicality, but because of the true emotion that drove it. It was literally like standing by helpless as your own kin beat the shit out of each other -- it was that believable. And the exchange between Nucky and Margaret afterward told a lot about Nucky's character, too. And Eli's animal rage that built up and exploded was stunning -- being robbed, fighting with Nucky, realizing he's in way over his head -- George just should have kept his mouth shut and backed slowly out of the garage.

Eli is so complex and nuanced. You can tell he's just about had it with Nucky's low opinion of him. He may not be the sharpest man around, but he ain't stupid, either.

I didn't particularly care for the scalping scene -- sometimes I think it's better to leave something to the imagination, and this was one of those times. They could have just focused on the old man's hands and the wheelchair and I think it would have been just as powerful.
