8. Tombstone
Val Kilmer should've got at least an Oscar nomination (if not the Oscar) for his Doc Holliday.

13. "Wild Bunch" tied with "Once Upon a Time in the West..."
...though "High Noon" -- especially the way it speaks to the present moment of cowering Americans -- is pretty great, too...

16. I love several, and they are:
Once Upon a Time In the West, The Wild Bunch, The Outlaw Josey Wales, The Searchers, Red River, Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, The Good The Bad and the Ugly.

Own them all except Pat Garrett, as it's not out on DVD.

18. WHAT??? You didn't add "Tombstone"
Puts all that John Wayne crap to shame.

Runner-ups would be the Eastwood spaghetti westerns.

Can't possibly list all the great westerns. I agree "Tombstone" is wonderful. I think the John Ford-John Wayne stuff is pretty good too if we can get past Wayne's right wing politics in his real life.

19. Stagecoach is the classic, to me....
But "Silverado" is a good modern look on the genre. I bet the actors enjoyed riding horses & being good/bad guys--better than playing a yuppies undergoing mid-life crises.

"Tombstone" was pretty fine; Val Kilmer really throws himself into a part.

"Blazing Saddles" can't be beat.

My own nominee from left-field? "McCabe & Mrs. Miller".
