What is your cat's current obsession?
My cats have been obsessed with opening the door to a little cabinent in my bathroom. No they don't sleep in there or even go in there really; they just scratch on the door until it opens. If I shut it, they open it again usually within 15 minutes. I'm wondering if it's a portal to another dimension. Anyway ,that has been their "thing" for the past couple of days.

1. MIght be a portal to some mice attempting to enter in the space around the plumbing, LOL.
But I love the portal to another dimension theme. WTG.

14. Could be!
Found a mangled mouse on my kitchen floor. NEVER seen a mouse in this house before. Now I feel all gross. But Good Job Kitties!

15. Oh, yes, one of those kitty gifts. They're giving you food in return for your taking care of them!
It's one of their skills that they used to honor you.

Give 'em and wink and smile.

Then dispose of the poor thing where they can't see it.

:hi:

2. putting a little strip of fleece in her water bowl
It was a left over scrap from a sewing project. She'll play with it a while and it inevitably ends up in her water bowl. Weird.

13. I think when they put things in their water bowl...
i don't wonder if it's drowning their prey.
even if it's just a scrap of paper they were playing with.

3. Getting to sit in front of the warmth-giving desk lamp.
Two of them sort of jostle for position in front of that. It's like sun worship, except it's more like lightbulb worship. :)

4. Trying to cover an empty wet food bowl.
I give him his wet food every evening when I get home. He eats half of it, comes back a few minutes later and eats the rest, then tries to cover up the empty food bowl, scratching all around it. Weird.

5. Gerber beef baby food.
Homeboy is 19.5 years old, survived pneumonia and has chronic renal failure. He's fairly rickety, but loudly demands his pate. It's what saved his life when pneumonia took his appetite, and we are happy to keep spoiling him with it as long as he wants to hang around.

She has been Velcro Kitty as of late. I keep the temperature fairly cool in the winter, and she doesn't like that.

9. People food. Has gone bonkers.
Rescued this cat estimated at 9 years old about 2 1/2 years ago. For the first two years, wouldn't even consider moist food. Had never had it. Then, about six months ago after moving in with my significant other and her cat and dog, he got the idea that they got fed moist food twice a day and joined in. Then about a month ago he started to go for our food. Last night we had meat loaf. We had to toss him in a bedroom; he has decided to eat our food now right off the plate (fat chance).

and then all three end up under, behind, and in it at some point. Tried to put a train around it and that just made the dog all crazy bonkers.

24. My cat likes to sleep under the Christmas tree.
In the back, where he won't be annoyed by the baby or the dogs.

23. I've got a rebel!
Someone dropped him off on my porch some months ago as just a little thing...all alone, shaking and crying. I took him in. NOW - he is a periodic, defiant head-tosser. (You may know the kind.)

He wants to play, but the older cats will have none of that foolishness! He's really smart. I know when to pick him up and when not to. When he has this wild look in his eyes - I let him be. He then goes to the other extreme and relaxes to the point where he looks like he is dead...mouth all agape and everything! I have to look at him long & hard to see if his heart is still beating - sure 'nuff...it is.

Though I named him "Friskie", it should have been "Sassy" instead!

For some reason, I guess he was taken from his mamma too early because he still tries to suckle the little nibs on the faux sheep-skin throw-cover on the sofa and I just let him have at it...though I do wonder if he'll ever outgrow it?

He gets excited every morning to see me and I pick him up and we have our quiet moment...but its not long that he gets restless and I remind him of his toys!

Cats. They are a real trip!
