Tell MoveOn.org to drop campaign to renew assault weapon ban
If you think the AWB should ride off into the sunset and stay gone, you can e-mail MoveOn at the link below and tell them what you think of the ban:

3. Why should we want to do that?
Why the heck would I want more assault weapons on the street endangering our children?

4. Won't somebody PLEASE think of the children?
The reason to oppose MoveOn's campaign is some of us think they have more important and more effective things to spend their money on.

5. A bit of research may be in order.
Texas Underground,

The AWB at first glance seems like a really good ban but in reality it wasn't. The guns it banned were no diffrent then most hunting models, only diffrences of cosmetics are what caused one to be banned and not the other. All the ban did was drive up the price for law abiding citizens. Criminals still have guns and are still a danger to your children. I think a better tactic then banning guns with the AWB would be to enforce the gun laws that are already on the books. Guns are not for everybody by any means but banning them outright is not the answer.

I am not a gun nut by any stretch of the imagination, but I know (when I think logically and not emotionally) that guns in the hands of law abiding citizens are not a danger to me and my family.

I hope this AWB retoric that Sen. Kerry is putting out doesn't hurt us (Dems) in the long run. I fear that people will listen to him and think that he is trying to take away our 2nd amendment and after that they will fear the first be taken away.

Dennis P.
