As most know the conservatives are putting a huge amount of pressure on CBS and their advertisers to fire Dan Rather.

Please read the thread and then call or write..
If Dan Rather goes...we will just have another Faux news puppet
put in his place.

4. My letter about the lunatic fringe

RE: DAN RATHER IS A DECENT & COURAGEOUS MAN, A HERO.

Dear Station Manager,

I am aware that the 30% lunatic fringe has been writing you
demanding that Dan Rather, CBS, and his programming be removed
from your line-up. Dan Rather had the courage to report on
Watergate and he is one of the few who can be counted on to have
the courage and integrity to report on matters of critical interest
to Americans. He is one of the few who makes the effort to maintain
a free press, a commodity that has become rare in the propagandized pap
Americans are fed today in substitute for news.

Unlike the current resident of the White House, when he has made a
mistake he has the courage and integrity to admit and apologize for it.

Should you choose to fold under the pressure of a small but organized lunatic fringe, I will not be watching your station, and I will be certain to advise my church, my friends, and your sponsors why I won't
be tuning in now or ever in the future.

"Mr. Rather may have been hasty in presenting the documents about the president's questionable military history, but he's a hero in that he tried to do what the Fourth Estate is supposed to do: investigate & report to the public.

"I ask you to consider this: If other news organizations & CBS affiliates buckle to the demands of partisan pressure to dismiss Mr. Rather, it would intimidate the media in such a way that they will feel stifled in doing their jobs effectively.

"Please consider that CBS Evening News' ratings have gone up 14% since this story broke. My guess is that I'm not the only one who admires Mr. Rather for taking a chance on getting the real news out to the people. Many of us have sons & daughters who would be at risk, should a draft be re-instated. We feel that if the president sanctions a character assassination of Sen. Kerry in regard to his heroic military record, then we have a right to know what his accuser's military record is. And if the president wins in November, I want to know what kind of man is sending my son into harm's way."
