Jesse Jackson was on KPFK last night and said this will affect African American communities and disabled people moreso than wealthy more mobile neighborhoods. Contact your LA Dem party and see if they are organizing or arranging rides for people to MAKE IT TO THE polls..PLEASE!!!

2. Who is behind this? How can they justify it?
This makes no sense. Its ASKING to turn away votes.

WHERE IS THE CALIFORNIA DEMOCRATIC PARTY ON THIS? Have they issued a public statement?

3. Huh?
How are you supposed to know where to vote if your usual polling place isn't open?

That actually happened to me once back in the 80's when I lived in Phoenix, Arizona. Some small, off-season election, and I went to my usual polling place and when I walked in, no sign of an election. Fortunately, the people there (I seem to recall it was a bar, but that can't be right, can it?) knew where to send me.

5. Can You Say "Clusterfuck?"
And I ain't talkin' bout Arnold's Gold's Gym gangbang!

I spoke with a Los Angeles County election official late last week about what restrictions there were on handing out flyers regarding BBV (still 100' from entrance to polls) and also asked her why all the voting in my area was to take place in a tiny art gallery 1/2 block from the beach with no obvious parking lot instead of the normal spacious neighborhood elementary school that housed three precincts.

She laid your info on me, Shocks, and I was floored! 3/4 of polling places out of commission for this election. OUTRAGEOUS! This is shaping up to be a debacle of 2000 proportions. Here in Venice, at least 7 precincts will be in the tiny art gallery!

DUers, please call all of your friends and remind them to check their voting pamphlets because most likely they will not vote at their usual polling place. Also, all voters should expect long lines. Turn out could be spectacular. Let's hope so!

Do what you can to make sure all who want to vote are able!

Thanks, gang! And thanks, Shocks, for reminding us!

No on the Recall! Yes on Bustamante! No on everything else!

6. When we made our calls we made sure people were clear
of their polling location and asked them to set up transportation if necessary. :hi:
