**** ACTION ALERT **** CHENEY IN CHICAGO FRIDAY!
Edited on Thu Jun-03-04 02:07 PM by benburch
**** ACTION ALERT ****

RESIST CHENEY'S CORPORATE CRONYISM - STOP THE WAR PROFITEERS! -
PROTEST VICE PRESIDENT CHENEY IN YOUR COMMUNITY!

Dick Cheney to speak at reception for Republican Senatorial candidate
Jack Ryan

When: Friday June 4 - 6:30 PM
Where: Hilton Chicago, 720 S. Michigan.

Maximize your collective impact and take time to figure out what kind
of actions you are excited about. Utilize creative non-violent action
to send a message to Cheney and Halliburton that there will be no
more business as usual.

Dick Cheney's former company, Halliburton, has received more than $9
billion in no bid contracts to rebuild Iraq's oil industry and
service the U.S. troops. Every other week, news reports document a
pattern of fraud, waste, and corruption by Halliburton – from alleged
overcharges of $61 million for fuel and $24.7 million for meals to
confirmed kickbacks worth $6.3 million. Cheney continues to receive
annual payments from Halliburton in excess of $150,000. And
Halliburton's campaign contributions between 1999 and 2002 – 95% of
which went to Republicans totaled more than $700,000.

Now new revelations further establish Cheney's role in coordinating a
multi-billon dollar Iraq reconstruction contract to his former
company.

In an article published this week in Time magazine, an email sent by
an Army Corp of Engineer official said Douglas Feith, a senior
Pentegon official provided arrangements for the RIO contract, or
Restore Iraqi Oil, between Halliburton and the U.S. government.

2. Here's the info from my DNC email
Come support the Democratic Party and protest the appearance of Dick Cheney when he attends a fundraiser for Illinois Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate, Jack Ryan.

We will protest Cheney's role in Halliburton's no-bid contracts in Iraq. Bring a sign and show Dick Cheney that he's in John Kerry -- and Barack Obama -- territory!
In Front of the Chicago Hilton
720 South Michigan Avenue
Friday, June 4
4:30 p.m.
not sure if I should post the contact info..
------

And my latest Jobs With Justice email says their protest now starts at 5 pm...
