San Francisco Bay area grocery worker's contracts expire on 9-11.
Safeway, Albertson's, and other chains employing over 30,000 workers are involved. There was a 5 month strike in Southern California last year-the major issue is healthcare (what else).

I ran informational picketlines for the UFCW for 14 months in the 1990's in Green Bay. The chain we picketed was sold and then organized.

Bay area DUer's might want to review their fall food budget and shopping plans.

Click on the fourth article down ("Next in line for grocery stores") for details.
