Online letter to protect Forests from Bush
On July 12, 2004, the Bush Administration announced a proposal to overturn a policy protecting nearly 60 million acres of our nation's last wild forests. Over 2.5 million Americans submitted public comments to protect our forests, yet the Bush Administration is doing everything it can to undermine the public's support from refusing to defend the policy in court to exempting our largest national forest.

Take Action NOW! Send a letter to protect America's last wild forests!

With the Administration's announcement, millions of acres of our national forests are now at risk of destructive road-building, logging, and drilling. Tell the Bush Administration to stop! Send Forest Service Chief Dale Bosworth a letter urging him to reinstate the Roadless Area Conservation Rule and send a clear message to the Bush Administration that Americans want our national forests protected for future generations.

Please help us meet the environmental community goal of 1,000,000 comments. Help us send a clear and powerful message that we will not tolerate the Administration giving our national forests away. The comment period ends September 15.

Take Action NOW! Send a letter to protect America's last wild forests!

1. I still think Kerry could score big by hammering Bush on the environment
BushCo's record is abysmal, and fully documented . . . Kerry should pick the top ten most egregious BushCo policies (regulatory changes, executive orders, whatever) and pledge to reverse them during his first week in office . . . this tree policy could be one of them . . .

because of the way BushCo has gone about changing environmental policy (incrementally and stealthily), I don't think the general public has understands just how bad they are on this issue . . . by summarizing the worst of the lot and promising to reverse BushCo's actions, Kerry could make this a central issue of the campaign . . . Bush would be forced to defend the indefensible, and voters would begin to understand just how bad the BushCo policies really are . . .

if there's one thing that Americans generally agree on, it's the need to protect our environment . . . it's an issue that transcends political and social boundaries . . . people have an innate appreciation of the need to protect the planet and to stop "fouling our nest" . . . Kerry has an excellent environmental record, and he can make a great case that Bush is indeed an environmental disaster and that he will do a much better job . . .

3. that's why I believe Kerry has to use provocative language . . .
calling Bush an "environmental disaster" would provide some red meat for the media lions . . .
