TOWARDS TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION: U.S. POLICY IN IRAQ
If you are interested in attending this event, carpooling will start at 8:30AM and leaving at 8:45AM from the Eckerd's parking lot at the Princeton
Shopping Center on Harrison Street in Princeton. Please reply to this email so we know how many people will be carpooling.

The NJ Coalition Against War on Iraq presents:

TOWARDS TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION:
A HEARING
ON
U.S. POLICY IN IRAQ

Saturday, August 28th
10:00am until 1:00pm

Hear the truth from attorneys, professors and grassroots activists about the invasion and occupation of Iraq and who should be held accountable. Find
out how activists would like to make things right with the Iraqi people

SPEAKERS:
Professor Frank Askin, Rutgers Law School, established the Constitutional Litigation Clinic at Rutgers
John Burroughs, Esq.; Executive Director of Lawyers' Committee on Nuclear Policy
Larry Hamm, Chairperson of People's Organization for Progress
Michael MacPherson, Veterans for Peace and recent visitor to Iraq
George Martin, Board Member of United For Peace and Justice and recent visitor to Iraq
Kevin Martin, Director of National Peace Action
Professor Stephen R. Shalom, Dept. of Political Science, William Paterson University
Mary Walworth, Central Jersey Coalition Against Endless War

TRUTH:
1) The invasion of Iraq violated international law
2) There were no Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq
3) There was no connection between Iraq and the events of 9/11/01
4) The treatment of prisoners at Abu Ghraib violated the terms of the Geneva Convention
5) U.S.Constitutional provisions were violated by the invasion of Iraq
6) The U.S.A. Patriot Act threatens the very foundation of the U.S. Constitution

STEPS TOWARD RECONCILIATION:
1) Deliver a U.S. Citizens' Apology to the Iraqi people (approximately 1000 signatures have been obtained)
2) Send another U.S. Citizens' Delegation to Iraq
3) Develop an on-going solidarity movement with the Iraqi people
4) Establish a truly independent investigation into the misuse of
intelligence in the run-up to the invasion of Iraq
5) End the occupation

Following the Hearing, participants are encouraged to walk as a group to the corner of Broad and Market Streets to participate in the People's
Organization for Progress 1:00pm rally "Peace and Justice from Iraq to the United States.

1. You can walk from Newark Penn Station

Head west on Raymond Blvd or Market Street (toward the Hilton Hotel and Gateway office buildings) to Washington and make a right.

The law school is on the Rutgers Newark campus.
