Progressive PAC for 2006 Cong. Races....
I have been crunching the numbers....

Since 1/3rd of those challenger candidates who spend $900,000 or more are successful against incumbents, then a goal of raising a cool million for candidates who could challenge in Federal and State elections could be raised a little at a time....

For example:

10,000 people, giving .25 a day for two years, would raise $1,825,000!

That's $91.25 a year.....

Or $7.61 a month....

100,000 people would raise $18,250,000 over the same amount of time....

If we could set up a PAC, do some research on those districts we feel would be vulnerable across the country, we could set up some state level and federal level payment plans, where money is raised, than candidates are invited from the competitive districts, and contributors vote on who will get the money to run for an election?

Whadya think?

If we could get 100,000 people signed up to this...we could fund at least 10 House races and about 15 state races....

The more people we sign up, the more races.....people could also put in lump sums as well, as long as we don't go beyond election restrictions!!

I think this is where we could go after the election process...developing something akin to EMILY's list, but for progressive-liberal candidates who appeal to the donors themselves.....sound good?

1. Or we could just push legislature
that says we must publicly fund all campaigns and candidates can't spend a penny more.

This can be bring forth awesome results in addition to two other pieces of legislature

1. 20 dollar fine for not voting.

2. Tax-locked trust fund unsponsored media source.

2. I was just thinking about this...
Assuming my candidate doesn't get the nomination (not willing to cede that one yet), I was wondering what will happen to the gigantic grassroots organization our campaign has built, and how we can continue to have an effect on the pollitical landscape.

I'd like to see our organization used as the basis of a VERY powerful PAC, both for funding candidates who will support our views AND at the same time pledging as a voting block so we can FORCE candidates to consider our views. If they don't meet our standards, we won't be giving them any support or any votes.

I for one am desparately seeking ANY candidate who will address the issue of ensuring we balance our budget deficits, our trade deficits, so that once all the baby-boomers are gone my generation WON'T be stuck with the aftermath. We're getting killed out here.
