Edwards to visit Oklahoma for $1,000 per person---it's a ripoff
John Edwards visits Springfield MO today and the admission is free.

He is schuduled to visit Oklahoma on Aug 25 and the admission is $1,000.00 per person. $10,000.00 to get a picture with him.

I don't understand why the Oklahoma Democratic Party (who is running this event) wants to make this open only to the very rich. There will be lots of hard feelings from the volunteers who have worked hard here yet will be denied access to this event.

1. Well....
did you ever think that it could be a fundraiser for the local party there or something? And by the way, $1000 is not very rich...its alot of money, but it isn't a wealthy sum. All of this free campaigning Kerry and Edwards are doing has to culminate in some "hard" support for the rest of the democrats in this country trying to get a foothold pack in politics...especially in a place like Oklahoma. Kerry and Edwards have gone all over the country and talked to people, even in my area, and I think they deserve to have a fundraiser every now and then. Not to mention that what separates us from th republicans is our ability to reach out in all nuances of the word to people of all walks of life. This means not only reaching out to the poor and middle class people, but also to the semi-wealthy, the rich, or the well off because we will all benefit from the Kerry Administration's policies. That is what is so great about it. You have to have a plan that reaches out to all people in order to create and maintain a prosperous and strong nation. Besides, at least they don't have to sign Kerry Edwards loyalty oaths like you do to get in to see bush speak...which my the way isn't worth the paper they make you sign.

3. If you want a foothold
If you are trying to get a foothold in a repug state, charging $1,000 a head ain't going to get you nothing. Oklahoma is a very poor state. $1,000 is a lot of money here.

11. Candidates doing fundraisers for state parties
Money will help your state party run its campaigns.
Done every year. Must be frustrating that they are not campaigning there, but don't you want them in states they have a better chance to win?

2. cheney has been to AZ 14 times....
stayed 40 minutes at a remote airport hanger, and the people didn't even get a bottle of water. Like a vandit, cheney ran off each time with 200K.

4. ...Someone in Oklahoma has $1,000?
Not to worry. The last time this state voted for a Democrat was in 1964. If folks are out there with a thousand bucks to spend, they're headed straight to WalMart with it...

Ish

This year we will give bushco a little less victory margin. We have registered several thousand Veterans who have never voted before and they are for Kerry.

7. The locals are pissed
Oklahoma Democrats don't want $200,000 leaving the state. We could use that money to build a better strong hold here. This event is a money making event for political hacks who take the money and know or care nothing about the Democratic Party platform.

10. The OK Dems should be told how you feel. This is an inner party
squabble. If you put alot into the Kerry/Edwards camp. then you should be recognized.
