In support of labor, Kucinich gives up million dollar fundraiser
Kucinich's people had accepted an invitation to an Orange Forum event and a fundraiser (which was to follow the forum and which was expected to raise big bucks) with Orange County investors, without knowing the hotel (the Hyatt) where these events would be taking place was a non-union hotel involved in a labor dispute. As soon as this was brought to Dennis's attention, he instantly cancelled the events. He expressed that he would however be willing to attend such events at a union location.
Like the audio post-card didn't make me weep enough! Yeesh.
Some days I wish he wasn't so principled, but then it just hits me why I adore him so.*sigh* It's feckin sick anyone that doesn't see this is what we need to lead the National effort!
8. i think you understand where our support comes from
I know you like Dean but I for one appreciated it when you posted that one poll, really was a morale booster. I need those at times. You'll never catch me saying that I dont feel this is the right fight that is for Kucinich. I just wish people would realize that this man with a big heart has been on the frontlines fighting Bush you want a fighter and a man who can inspire you then Kucinich is your guy. I was pleased to see him mentioned in the newspaper, boy oh boy what a rare sight that is.
I cant find anything at his website but this isnt suprising knowing what he has done in the past and Gephardt has done simliar. I bet John L Lewis who is my union hero well I admire all of em except Hoffa but I like Lewis because of my Miner blood and if you can tell me the historic leader of the steel workers he will be a hero too. Which gets me thinking I am gonna resquest a Lewis avatar. On Lewis I bet he would endorse DK due to his opposition to Taft-Hartley and his great labor grades and committment.
11. Announcements of the events and cancellation were made.
This was mostly done through emails. I don't know if it made it into the papers here in California. The events had been scheduled for next Monday at the Hyatt in Irvine.
