What would be your dream cabinet in an Edwards' Presidency?
Edited on Wed Jul-23-03 07:56 AM by chimpymustgo
VP - Wesley Clark
Sec State - Al Gore
Attorney General - Eric Holder
Defense - Wiillam Perry
Homeland Security - Bob Graham
Surgeon General - Howard Dean
HHS - Carol Mosely Braun

This would also make a nice Kerry Cabinet. Okay, it's a fun game.

1. Stiglitz can replace Greenspan. McKinney can run the
Office of Civil Rights. There's a certain Princeton economist who should probably be in the cabinet.

4. clinton for united nations, kerry too
bill clinton for the united nations . i actually would like him to have the job kofi annan has. and although kerry is my first choice for president i think he and edwards get along well and edwards may offer him a position as sec of defense or state if edwards wins. but i agree that all the ones you named are good choices for edwards or kerry.

7. Again way too early
First, we don't have a nominee yet. Second, he wasn't won yet. Third, there are massive considerations aside from ability which need to be thought of. We probably can't have Senators from states with Republican governors. That eliminates Kerry, Kennedy, Graham, and several other good choices.

That said. There are several no brainers

Dean should have a role if he loses. He would be a great VP for Edwards. He also would be good for Treasury or HHS.

Mosley Braun would be a huge asset. HHS would be good for her. Labor too.

Graham would be great in CIA Director, State, or NSA. If he choses to retire form the Senate.

Gore would be great at State.

Cleland would be good for Defense.

Krugman Chair of Economic advisers would be good.

Blumenthal as Press Secretary would be such just deserts.

Defense - Cleland (of course).
Sid handling the Press - priceless.

13. Wow - thoughtful and diverse.
Who is Marcy Kaptur, Ben Cayetano?

Love your pick of Eva Clayton for Ag.
Treasury - not Maxine. Could Bob Rubin be persuaded to come back?

Al Gore deserves something more high profile than Interior, IMO.

But I'm very impressed with your thoughtulness in putting your list together.

15. Kaptur & Cayetano
Here is some information on:

Marcy Kaptur

Ben Cayetano

If Gore truly wants to implement his vision from Earth in the Balance, then Dpt. of the Interior or EPA is the best place for him.
