How to Be the McCain of '04
Some days, it seems as if every Democrat running for president is vying to be the next John McCain.

snip

From his perch in the Senate, the real McCoy, er, McCain, watches this parade of Democratic imitators with quiet bemusement. To those who would emulate his tactics and style, he offers the kind of plain talk that helped catapult him, albeit briefly, to the head of the Republican pack.

"I'm flattered," Mr. McCain said simply. "And of course, I'm also entertained, by the fact that they seem to ignore the reality that I lost."

snip

Of all the Democrats, Dr. Dean, who has generated huge crowds and whipped up enthusiasm among those who say they have felt left out of the political process, is perhaps the most often compared to Mr. McCain. But the comparison seems to irk the senator, who said Dr. Dean's national security positions "are way out of the mainstream."

1. McCain hasn't seen a war he wouldn't want to get America involved in

President Harry Truman is closer, on just about everything, to Governor Howard Dean than Senator John McCain is.
Give 'em hell, Howard! :bounce:

2. Neither Has Dean
He was anti-resolution, not anti-war. He likes war. It's nice.

3. lol if we really wanna talk about Truman here
I think he would be very happy with a certain man named Kucinich for supporting the repeal of Taft-Hartley, Harry S tried so hard to get that repealed but failed, If anyone wants to another reason lol why I like Kucinich its that he appeals to social and economic justice as well against a certain war among others too. Well I always admired Truman and I still do.

4. Speaking of Truman
I'm not opposed to it, but I wonder for those Kucinich or Dean people who liken their candidate to Truman what their position on the A-bombing of Japan is.

Not quite accurate on McCain wanting to get involved in every war. He was against being in Lebanon and he was right. He even said so to Reagan. He's not a liberal (he's on our side on some key issues though), but I'm open to whatever McCain has to say on foreign policy.

5. I lost respect for McCain
When he was in so many words labeling the people protesting against the Iraq war as un-American.
