I saw on the Washington Journal that according to Chuck Todd of Hotline Jim Gibbons says that the chances that he will challeng Harry Reid in 2004 are only 50/50. He also said that he may instead run for the Nevada Supreme Court. Gibbons said off camera in an interview that it is partially because at the supreme court they get a bettter pension. Are there any other republicans to be worried about in Nevada for 2004? This could be good for Reid and for the democrats' senate hopes. I saw that there was some other good news for Reid in some tax plan in the state legislature out there. Does anyone know more about what happened there?
he barely won in 1998 because he was facing the best candidate the GOP could bring out, John Ensign, who was from the Vegas area. Since Ensign now has a senate seat there's no candidate as strong. Gibbons wouldn't bring the vote from any area that would've went to Reid anyway. Also Clark county is now far larger and more Democratic.
