Radio fight over 'Buzz' tag heads to court
Branding in the USA

The buzzing noise emanating from U.S. District Court in Nashville is echoing in radios all across the country.

But according to the plaintiffs in a federal copyright case, the only place that the ''Buzz'' should be heard is over the signals broadcast by Nashville-based Cromwell Group Inc. It is fighting national broadcasting behemoth Clear Channel Communication's use of the marketing moniker to describe several of its own radio stations.

..
Cromwell says that it has a trademark on ''Buzz.'' It wants Clear Channel and its subsidiaries to stop using the term, whether it's for a station in Atlanta, Oklahoma City, Jonesboro, Ark. — or any other it owns nationwide.

1. I was always wondering about this....
...When I lived in Nashville, I remember 102.9 "the Buzz". Then I moved to Houston and noticed we had our own "Buzz" station. I'm surprised it took this long to sue.

Fuck Clear Channel anyway....
