CNN refuses to acknowledge USAToday's "no immediate threat" means
Edited on Tue Aug-03-04 10:14 PM by papau
the terror alert was all about pushing Bush poll numbers.

On CNN Aaron could not get any detail not on the Rove PR sheet from his reporters. We have a bad guy that planned the 98 bombing, plus the techie that assisted him by putting any file that was to get its 5 minutes of life on a website (they erased the files rather quickly) through an encryption program - no doubt a simple PGP, plus we have a laptop.

And nothing else.

A different person has said "sure we targeted financial buildings" - big deal - they hit the WTC after this planning was done.

The fact that we do not even know if any file dealing with the 5 financial targets was ever updated with new info post 911 was never said.

Instead the CNN reporters used the Bush/Rove "Updated" word rather than explaining that the file on the hard drive had been opened once in 2003, and again in Jan 2004. Opening the file could easily have been by mistake, or for a read only review - we have no proof from anything on that hard drive that there was a change to the file.

And CNN then aired the Rove/Bush new excuse - they found telephone numbers on the laptop. And these were for cell phones. And our electronics traces terrorist cell phone calls. And we never dump data from the billions of calls we listen to - right, sure, whatever you say - the reporters just swallowed this whole - and we went back to look at those phone calls and now knew what they were really saying. Again not saying that the terrorists were saying anything about a coming attack.

So we live in Fortress America whenever Bush needs a few poll points. And those telephone numbers will lead to a few arrests over the next month.

But the "Why now" question never got answered - Aaron tried quite hard - but his crew was not going to go off script. Heck, CNN never reported the "Financial targets face no immediate threat" by Kevin Johnson and Mimi Hall, USA TODAY "The major U.S. financial institutions identified in a recently disclosed al-Qaeda surveillance operation are not believed to be at imminent risk of attack, two federal law enforcement officials with knowledge of the investigation said Tuesday." http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2004-08-03-ridge-usat_x.htm

I just love the US Media.

1. I just read that maggots have made a comeback. I know where they
are--on CNN (Contrived Network News) and alive and well.

2. sigh .... Aaron tried very hard 3 or 4 times - but his crew acted like
going off script would cost them their jobs.
