3. Turned on O'Reilly (radio show)
and he was defending Kerry!!! Saying this ad is just wrong and they have no case...the callers are trying to change his mind...

Think this has something to do with the fact that Kerry (I think it was said...) has agreed to be on his show?? It's all about ratings, Bill...

6. I dunno as much of a scumbag O'Lielly is
I have noticed now this is twice that he's shot down those that hurl ridiculous claims at Kerry.

The first time was when he had this neo-con on that was attempting to associate Theresa Heinz-Kerry with Hezbollah

HEZBOLLAH!!!

9. sfgate says this
Hoffmann said none of the 13 veterans in the commercial served on Kerry's boat but rather were in other swiftboats within 50 yards of Kerry's.

14. Think about this enlist (on the boat) vs. officers (these SwifetBoat guys)
First the guys ON KErry's boat are obviously more credible

Second there are and have been a lot more enlisted personnel than there have been officers

Lastly-sounds like they were jealous from the start.

16. I wrote an E-Mail to Fox concerning Lt. Commander Elliot's....
retraction, as was reported in the Boston Globe by Michael Kranish's article, "Veteran retracts lies about Kerry's war record, regrets taking part in smear". I hope I am not breaking the rules, but here it is:

Greetings and Salutations to the Editor-in-charge of FoxNews.com!
I would care to assist you in your quest for living up to your self proclaimed banner in being “Fair and Balanced”.
An article published in The Boston Globe, by Michael Kranish, today revealed that Lt. Commander George Elliot has retracted the statements which he made regarding the key assertions in the not yet released book, ''Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry”.
I would care to help direct you in your quest for providing America with more “up to date” information in the attempt to alleviate any misconceptions which your news organization has “inadvertently” overlooked in providing a “balanced” perspective of the article which your website is currently displaying; “Veterans Criticize Kerry's War Record”.
Here is a portion of the article to help you track down this event:

“Yesterday, reached at his home, Elliott said he regretted signing the affidavit and said he still thinks Kerry deserved the Silver Star.
''I still don't think he shot the guy in the back," Elliott said. ''It was a terrible mistake probably for me to sign the affidavit with those words. I'm the one in trouble here."
Elliott said he was no under personal or political pressure to sign the statement, but he did feel ''time pressure" from those involved in the book. ''That's no excuse," Elliott said. ''I knew it was wrong . . . In a hurry I signed it and faxed it back. That was a mistake."
The affidavit also contradicted earlier statements by Elliott, who came to Boston during Kerry's 1996 Senate campaign to defend Kerry on similar charges, saying that Kerry acted properly and deserved the Silver Star.”
Earlier in the same article, “Lieutenant Commander George Elliott said in an interview that he had made a ''terrible mistake" in signing an affidavit that suggests Kerry did not deserve the Silver Star -- one of the main allegations in the book. The affidavit was given to The Boston Globe by the anti-Kerry group to justify assertions in their ad and book.”
And, later on, “The Kerry campaign spokesman, Michael Meehan, said none of those in the ad had served on a boat with Kerry. ''Some of these men defended John Kerry's honor on his military record in 1996 and so they were either lying then or lying now," Meehan said. ''Either way, it is gutter politics."

Thank you for the time in reading my communication to you. I KNOW that this journalistic oversight would be of great concern to you, and your reputation. I am sure that your audience would expect nothing less from you than to “objectively” report Lt. Commander George Elliott’s retraction. In terms of “GOOD” fundamental journalism, it would be the ‘RIGHT” thing to do, as well as living up to your “Fair and Balanced” slogan.

Sincerely,

Eric Jon Peterson

PS - There is a great movie out called “OutFoxed”, have you seen it yet!

PSS - Please send Rupert my regards!
